I've tried it with putting but I'm with you I would never try it with a driver or any wood or iron for that mater.TommyBahama wrote:i've seen it with people putting....i think i'd break my wrist trying to swing a club that way!!!pair8head wrote:My step dad is a lefty who uses a left handed grip on his RIGHT handed clubs.

I even knew that about Phil!! My boss is left handed and plays all sports right handed which really s*cked because my husband is a lefty & I thought I would be able to get his used really good clubs from himTommyBahama wrote:a little tib bit i did not know.....Phil is a natural righty!!!!....but plays golf left handed , and Ben Hogan was natural lefty who played righty. I never noticed when he is signing autographs....will have to look closer next time.
My brother is a righty who plays golf left handed , turned lefty when we use to play wiffle ball and hit better that way then from the right side, and stayed that way for baseball and golf. He may putt righthanded though...can't remember.
But I just bought my husband the new Taylor Made "Rocket Balz" irons & driver (left handed of course) and what a difference in his play -so yes the clubs you use do make a difference-he always had crappy ones

Re: 2012 The Masters
I learned to play golf using my best friend dad's copper in-layed circa 1950/60s Spalding blade clubs. I learned to hit the ball strait
I migrated to more modern clubs but I still think the reason I can hit a 1 and a 2 iron today is from learning with those clubs. There was no sweet spot on them lol
If we couldn't laugh we would all go insane ...
Re: 2012 The Masters
I'll bet Tiger is really tired of watching Miguel Angel today too.
I am so happy for Fred. His step
has the bounce of a 22 year old instead of a 52 year old.
I think Stenson just threw his ball in the water after a bogey. Oops!
So beautiful to watch so many in the "pack."

Re: 2012 The Masters
When I was a lot younger I could never hit driver or woods. I could hit my 2-iron 175-190. I always had fun and never even broke 100.
Then in 1985 I got my first set of Cobra woods I could hit, so I developed a good game and got down to sweet sixteen.
Worked through back problems with handicap up to 28 at times and now about the only clubs I use are driver to 7 wood and then a chipper or short pitch and hardly ever get a greenie, but managing about 19 or 20 hdcp.
I love golf and am always so amazed at everybody's different way of SCORING.
BUT these guys are just plain gifted, talented, blessed.

Great golf today at The Masters. Also, CBS had a nice piece on Seve.
Cute moment today was when Sergio and Rory finished with a birdie and gave each other a hug.

Sad moment was Freddy in the water. Can boom boom still win?
Fun to watch Mickelson walk through the crowd as he finished today.
What a great tournament. I'm still listening for eveything they announce about Hunter Mahan.
It was fun reading some stuff about the winners not being allowed to keep their jackets, except for a year. Saw the story about Phil wearing his green jacket at the drive-through of a Krispy Kreme in Augusta the day after he won in 2010.

Re: 2012 The Masters
i;m about a 9-10 HC.....i always try to make sure that i at worse i 2 putt every green....the difference is they ( the pros) in most cases can make the ball do what they want , we hope it does what we want....... i focus more on the short game then hitting the ball 300 yards.conched wrote:When I was a lot younger I could never hit driver or woods. Re: 2012 The Masters
I went to the 2010 Tournament on Wed, Thurs, & Fri. Got my tickets thru StubHub, worked great. The Par-3 tournament is a must see, and the field is large enough on Thurs & Fri to enjoy things. After the cut, the field is too small to try and watch things in person. I talked to woman who has had badge for 40+ years and she's only been on Sunday once. Even she said the best seat in the house on Sunday is in front of your tv.
Practice round tickets are sold by lottery every year, tournament badges are only available thru a broker. Even the waiting list for badges is closed. Although this year they had a limited number of single day badges for sale.

Reading that Jeff Maggert scored a double eagle in the 1994 Masters

Bruce Devlin made a double eagle at the masters in 1967
The next double eagle at the Masters wasn’t made until 1967, when Australian Bruce Devlin sank a hooking 4-wood from 248 yards for a 2 on the par-5 eight hole in the first round.

About Bubba
http://www.bubbawatsongolf.com/about/
Known for incredible shot-making, mammoth drives, a hot pink shafted driver and an electric personality, Bubba Watson is a true all American superstar. Bubba grew up the small town of Bagdad Florida where he began the game of golf at age 6. He was given a cut down 9-iron from his father and learned to play the game by hitting wiffle-balls around the house. More interestingly, the only golf lesson Bubba received was from his father at a very young age and he has not had a lesson since. He is truly a self-taught golfer.
Although Bubba was a standout left-handed pitcher in high school, he chose to stick with golf and received a golf scholarship to the University of Georgia where he helped lead the Bulldogs to an SEC title in 2000. In 2001, a year away from graduating, Bubba decided to turn professional and went on to lead the Tour in driving distance multiple years in a row. From humble beginnings to winning three times on the PGA Tour, Bubba knows what it takes to succeed at the highest level. He takes great pride in his performance on the course and he works even harder off the course.

Re: 2012 The Masters
Bubba quickly recognized his responsibility as a role model to young kids and in 2008, without telling his family and friends, he decided to go back to the University of Georgia and complete his degree. Bubba wanted to be able to encourage kids to get an education and pursue their dreams and therefore felt it was important to set an example. Bubba and his wife, Angie are committed Christians who share a passion for philanthropy and dedicate as much time as possible to giving back. They are involved with multiple charities throughout the year and run several junior golf events. Both on and off the course, Bubba’s character exemplifies the strength and humility it takes to succeed in life.
