I'm jealous. I wish that would happen for GW.

What time to show up?

I'm coming with a group of five, all first timers, all 50-60 somethings. This is a special birthday outing for my sister who turns the big something-0 this year. We grew up in Mobile, and have always loved JB because he sings about so many places that are dear to our hearts, but we're not big concert-goers so this is our first Jimmy Buffett concert.

We'd like to experience a bit of tailgating, well actually not tailgating ourselves, but walking around and meeting other people who are tailgating and talking with them and seeing what the whole Parrothead/Pirate/Fin Fan experience is like. She is a prolific blogger and she is so excited about blogging about the concert.

What time should we try to arrive at Lakewood? We don't want to arrive at noon and spend all day there, yet we don't want to show up too late and find folks already breaking down and headed into the venue.

Any recommendations?

We'll breakdown at around 6ish unless some of our friends that don't plan on attending the concert decide to stay, in that case the tent, chairs and cooler will stay out till after the show. If the gates open as noon figure an hour of the first rush getting in, setting up, etc. 2? maybe 3?

Just hit Hot'Lanta 'bout 2am this morning. Don't have a plan yet, but that never stopped me before. When I lived here I use to be part of the 8 am crowd watin' at the gate with a Bloody Maria in hand, but I'm thinking I'll arrive sometime just after ~ noonish.  Yep, I must be gettin' older

I hope to see ya in the lot, but that's like finding a neddle in a haystack sometimes. So If you see me, give me a shout. I'll be in my traditional gear with sarong, but "So right", in tow.

It's going to be a GREAT day!!!!! 8)

Great to see Steve, Barbara, Keith, Wendy, Craig, Jimmy, Jason, Delaney, Haley, Rick, Nicole, brother-in-law (Todd, I think), Dave, Janice, David, Marie, Jay, Andy, Mike, Regina, Kris, and I hope I didn't leave anyone off the list. Wonderful weather and tailgate and a fantastic show. :D

First show, an early birthday surprise for my sister, who turns 60 later this year. We grew up in Mobile, went to Auburn, and she has always felt a special connection to JB's music. We (five of us in our 50s) arrived about 5, in time to walk the parking lot and take in some of the Parrothead madness. Then, we ate our own picnic and entered the venue about 7.

To our left sat a fellow with a cheeseburger hat. To our right, a bare chested 50-something fellow with a beer gut and a cocoanut bra. Behind us, a group of 20-somethings there to celebrate a birthday. One of the girls wore (around her waist) an inflatable flotation device with a duck head for almost the entire concert. Not too far away a family with a daughter still in diapers.

The weather was perfect, everyone was friendly, the crowd never got out of hand (there was a tiny flare up when one fellow thought there were too many beach balls and decided to bite a hole out of any beach ball that came too close), at least two inflatable shark (probably full of helium) "got away" and floated off into the sunset over the venue,

A great evening. Many of our favorites. What a great memory. Wish I could go to Mansfield, but I have to work. Y'all have fun!

Great show and tailgating. We arrived shortly before 1PM and were in the gravel lot. Worst part of the tailgate was when the bottom literally fell out of a 1.75 bottle of Cuervo Gold that we were going to use for our Margaritaville machine. Luckily we had a backup bottle and plenty of cerveza to go around. Note to the parking management: You need more than five port o lets for thousands of people. This isn't their first rodeo and there seem to be less and less every year. Traffic leaving the concert was worse than average and a lot of that probably can be contributed to the lack of a Marta shuttle this year. We set up about midway back on the lawn and I met some great people and big time parrotheads. The Cubs/Pirate outfit was well received and even invoked a tomahawk chant in the mens restroom. I had no idea there was so many Florida State fans in Atlanta! I had my photo taken too many times to count, so if you have one of me, you could always pm me the link if you would like. Great show with a few suprises which my fave two were ZB and Savannah, Fare thee well.
