Making the trip from Toronto and I've read that a good spot for football tailgaiting is at the Eastern Market. Anyone know if they will be opening up for Buffett tailgaters?
From what I have been told.......NO!!!
The market is open on Saturday...hence not feasible for the Saturday show.
But then again..........I'm not a local.
yep , this
the market runs to 5pm every saturday. Unless ilitch leased the whole thing, there wont be tailgating there. Just keep checking olympia entertainments page for updates. They really havent released any details on the "buffett beach bash" in the comerica parking lots.
There are alot of private lots scattered around the stadium area. They are small and fragmented from each other but provide tailgating.
Per Brent Burns' website he will be performing at some sort of Parrothead party the night before the concert. Location at this time not identified.
Haven't heard any new info from Olympia entertainment or anyone else about other festivities.
Corona by day, Corona by night, any old time is just alright!
No news on the "Beach bash" from Olympia. I have included a link to the "chesney beach bash" that they did in 2007 for ford field next door.
You can see that this has potential but could also be kinda lame if they just invite the Marines to recruit and the local yocal radio station to hand out garbage from their station. I know Olympia is planning hula hooping which seems really stupid. I think of 50's sock hops and "chubby checker" when I hear Hula hoops not Jimmy Buffett.
Therefor I encouraged everyone going to write Olympia entertainment very soon and tell them what kind of Tailgate party you expect to be able to attend on Brush street. This is your chance to help them out since they have never hosted Jimmy before. PS&E just started to get with the program after hosting the show for decades so O.E. is gonna need alot of help and advice. WRITE THEM.
Im hoping for cheap beer and being able to walk around with it. Some "buffett cover bands" to listen to. Porta-johns in numbers great enough to not have a line. It would be nice if they let people set up their own tailgates on brush................even for a price. They need to at least have tables or something to sit on if they dont let people tailgate.
This is going to be my first Buffett concert after growing up listening to him thru my college years in Mobile. What is the best place to tailgate in Detroit? What should I expect?
Includes Friday night music by Brent Burns & Caribbean Blue.....
Saturday entertainment by Don Middlebrook & Air Margaritaville..
Who needs Buffett when you've got entertainment like that lined up??!!

I'm registered for the DPHC party, and I am looking forward to it. I've been wanting to shake up my Buffett experience a little more, and this year will be different in a very good way.

You do have an interesting point P.I.T.M. I've not had the normal enthusiasm with this show being "out of my comfort zone" a bit by not having the traditional "rural" type parking lot tailgate setup feel of Pine Knob/Cincy/etc. I guess this COULD be a little more like the feel of Vegas (of which I've never been) with the pre-party the night before & the "bar" tailgate scene in the big city the day of.
I guess I never thought I'd be going to Buffett show & wandering the mean streets of Detroit to be amongst Parrothead Nation!
Haven't made any definitive plans yet on what I'm doing & it will be interesting to see what Olympia Entertainment cooks up for this event but the D.P.H.C. is sure making a great effort here.

Just wanted to let everyone know, we live in Ann Arbor, about 35 min away from Tiger Stadium (we don't call it Comerica Park). There is a Motel 6 and a bunch of other ones that are do-able around us, if you don't mind heading a bit west to a very, very cool town. Then spend Sunday in Ann Arbor!
It may be worth checking with Hard Rock Cafe to see if they will offer free parking in the structure behind them and transpo to the concert and back for people who choose to do their reveling there. They have offered this for the Madonna concert.
Pine Knob MI & Bristow VA (2010), Pine Knob MI (2011), Detroit MI & Joliet/Chicago IL (2012), Detroit MI & Indianapolis IN (2013), Detroit MI & Cuyahoga Falls OH (2014), Detroit Riverside Park MI (2015), Pine Knob MI (2016)

and its between the 21st and August 1st............................let the speculating begin as to were that "performance" will be held at.
also noticed he's doing his own festival and one in pensacola this fall. Gotta look into going to those.
Hate to put a damper on your enthusiam Jason....but I don't believe that's an "open" slot for a projected show. While it's true ZBB doesn't have anything scheduled July 28th , I'd be shocked if ZBB would be added to the bill late in the game. Besides, you REALLY don't want ZBB snatching up some of Lionel Richie's alloted time, do you?
I Am surprised ZBB doesn't have a "Detroit/Michigan" show slated this summer. Notice a big 3 week gap in August. Maybe some last minute negotiations for DTE in that time frame.

Well I agree I dont think the band will be added to the bill and that the date is a "show", I do think its totally possible that is a saved date for a "appearance" as there are others listed in july, like the Today show and Late night.
I would hate to see Lionel lose some playing time for zac. haha........................but actually I'm kinda looking forward to Lionel too, hell maybe he'll get Aretha to sing "respect" with Nadira as well.

Okay, at the risk of sounding like I have been living in a cave for most of my life, who is Roddie Romero?
Bring on the Zydeco Baby!!! http://www.roddieromero.com/music
This is getting interesting. Not sure how Zydeco is gonna translate to the big stadium but I'm willing to give it a shot!

Im wondering if this Roddie guy has been booked to play the Landshark stage outside the stadium and not as a actual opening act inside. Im thinking thats more likely.
but have if they are still adding acts than ZBB you never know. ps Kid Rock doesnt have any plans that night either.
