Who's going to Detroit 7/28? ??

That's right, I said Detroit! Not DTE, not Pine Knob. Jimmy and crew are coming to the Motor City on Saturday, July 28th , playing at Comerica Park, home of baseball's Detroit Tigers!
The DPHC has a "Special Board Meeting" scheduled for tomorrow night to begin discussing the pre-party festivities. Those who have made our events in the past have not been disappointed. Also to note, that this years concert is on this Pirate's 40th birthday so I promise we're going to party like rock stars!
Come celebrate summer in the city and have a birthday shot with me...it's on!
Also, be sure to check back often as I'll update this post with the latest info from the DPHC!
Who's Going?:

as long as vacation plans can be altered ....... good thing airfare was not purchased yet
didn't even try and not really sad about it
if it had been elsewhere we would have re-arranged air ...... just not worth it in my opinion ......rather go quadding in the mountains of British Columbia than fight the non-Buffett drunks that will converge downtown ......... have fun to all who got tix
looks like tix prices would have almost been as pricey as the flight

Dude, why am I not on that list already? You know we're in. I've begun twisting Patti's arm as well, and she's thinking about it.

I'm gonna be a TBA............This 1 is not a slam-dunk for me. My phriends got antsy & already reached out for tix to Tinley so they're skipping the local show. I've always liked the "greenspace" we were used to getting at PK....not the "asphalt jungle" of the Copa location. This one is gonna be more about "the show" than the parking lot experience. Don't know if I'm into the investment it will take (more $$$ for tix, bar prices for drinks+ twice the distance).

This year, I was planning on just using my vacation for MOTM and waiting until next year to see Jimmy. Well, I caved. I'm going to this show.

Even though I would prefer Pine Knob for many reasons (mostly for the tailgating, the park & ride pre-tailgating, the fact that it's 10 miles from home, and the lawn seats --yeah, I've only seen Jimmie as a Lawn Person, as long as you count the Tinley Park paved isle on the hill routing the pee down as lawn.--), but the date is the only thing stopping me from going.
23 years straight the family has camped at EAA Oshkosh for Airventure, tieing in the Chicago shows a couple of times. This year the hometown show will be missed and the aviation streak continued. Choices....choices...
But I will have my Sirius Boom Box cranked up to ELEVEN in the campground Sat night just as I have for the Alpine Valley show in the past

Hey Al,
As soon as I heard it wasn't at Pine Knob and therefore super-close to your house/campground, I began to give up on my Detroit dreams for this year. Now I know it's Oshkosh weekend, well, I'm looking for another venue!

It's not often I pick up a local paper and see Jimmy Buffett on the front page. Above the fold yet.

Well with that many seats I figure it shouldn't be too hard to get tickets.
I have a couple of friends that just went to St Kitts with us that expressed an interest.
So I guess we will make a go for tickets.
Sigh....Pine Knob is such a beautiful, intimate venue. I'll remember to bring the binoculars.

The Party starts at 8 am
From Olympia Entertainment
"Jimmy Buffett fans are invited to soak in the full Margaritaville tailgating experience, starting Saturday at 8 a.m., with a FREE downtown beach party for all to enjoy. ’Buffett’s Beach Party”, located on the grounds surrounding Comerica Park, will feature a LandShark Lounge, margarita tasting, hula hooping, a variety of midway games, live entertainment and much, much more."
