The news said there was a shooting. Not confirmed if it was self-inflicted.
He was only 43.

I just heard. Very, very sad & heartbreaking.
Not many things are sadder than when a person feels as if suicide is their only option.
Prayers 7 peace to the family of this outstanding young man.

R.I.P., Mr. Seau. I'm very sorry we all failed you.
Thank you for the memories and may you find eternal peace as you reach the end of your journey.

This is so so so sad
I loved him as a player & rooted for him no matter what team he was on.
They said it was a gunshot wound to his chest -that is not the normal place someone shoots themselves -Investigation is ongoing.

Sail on Junior

Very sad. I hope his family and friends find peace.
I hope he did not take his own life.

However in no way did I "fail him".

watching D & C show on NESN....they been talking about it all morning....all indications point toward a suicide....i guess he text his kids and wife , that he loves them. What's sad is that he never showed any recent indications of problems. Yes , he did drive off a cliff a few years ago , maybe that was a sign , but , he claimed he feel asleep at the wheel. This was a couple of days after a divorce.

i agree.....just heard a cut from Marcellus Wiley , when he asked Seau that question after the accident ......tell me it wasn't a suicide attempt and that you feel asleep at the wheel , going on like hey , i've falling asleep at the wheel....i guess Seau responded with , yes , i feel asleep at the wheel. What i agree with in all the reports, and yes it is sad and tragic , but , it was a selfish act. If you love your family and friends, and the Character guy he was in the community. You get help , you've helped many . I'm sure people would return the favor.

I was shocked and saddened to hear the news. Then later in the day I hear that they think it is suicide. I just don't get it. What makes people think that killing themselves will make things better. Very sad.

I sure could never root for him, but I sure loved to watch him play. Always more of a fan of the defensive side, and always a fan of the great players on the D. Sail on.

It was disappointing to see the media and the family let his mother stay on as long as she did.

I was incredibly sad to read this news.

I also find it sickening that the news media keeps showing clips of his mother crying. Why would you stick a camera in her face? I have lost a lot of respect for the news media this past year….
