Well, that's your opinion and you're entitled to it. But re-read my post here, specifically where I address the data packages, and then tell me (and surfpirate) just how they are "screwing with your data". Remember, nobody has announced for sure what is going to happen re: the data plans, with effective dates, prices, allowance amounts and all — and from everything I've heard on an official level, no matter what the 'new' plans end up being nothing is going to change on your account until and unless you change your phone and create a new contract.

Well, I finally connected with a nice customer service rep that let me upgrade early. That's the good news. I also learned that there is now a $30 upgrade charge. That's the bad news.

I'm told there is no way to avoid this fee.

So, I'm going with the Maxx Razor for $199, the $30 upgrade fee, $15 for silicone case and $9 for screen protectors. I did get 25% off the supplies per the rep. My unlimited data plan is locked for 2 more years. I also found out that since I have FIOS in my house, I can get some shows on the phone for free. Need to explore that further. So all in all, not too bad.

This rep also had no suggestions for me regarding the phones for my mom. If I want to get a phone for her, I will be incurring some level of monthly data costs.

Should have the phone tomorrow.

When I upgraded, they hit me with the fee too....
The phone came via FedEx with copius instructions on how to transfer the service from my existing phone to the new phone.
Uh, uh.... [smilie=nope.gif] I took the new phone to the Verizon store the next day and said "here, if you're gonna charge me $30 to upgrade, you do it."
