Coconut Telegraph

Who wrote the lead story in the current Coconut Telegraph? I don't see any name. Did I miss something (not that that would be unusual)?
I know!!! I can't believe anything like that would be published without crediting the author. Or at least saying that it's a "composite" of several people's observations.surfpirate wrote:You didn't miss anything.
This first person account
about being in the midst
of
backstage happenings
was not credited in any way.
It's a pretty damb big ol' glaring omission
for a piece that comes off
as pretty braggadocious,
particularly when we
never learn who this person is .....
*sigh* okay, I wasn't going to say anything but ....phjrsaunt wrote:I know!!! I can't believe anything like that would be published without crediting the author. Or at least saying that it's a "composite" of several people's observations.surfpirate wrote:You didn't miss anything.

That's it? He is simply "Marty Layman from the Coconut Telegraph"?rmissbrook wrote:The author is "Marty Layman (sp?) from the Coconut Telegraph." Just relistened to the interview from Tampa. He was on with Bing and Bong.
Do they honestly expect us to believe that "Marty LAYMAN" is not a made-up name? How very "Death of a Salesman" that is.surfpirate wrote:That's it? Does he have any other credentials?
Because if being "Marty Layman from the Coconut Telegraph"
is his full time job
he'd better learn to do the things
that writers do and put a byline on his work.
And while I'm critiquing ....
his Coconut Telegraph story was fairly interesting,
a small peek into the backstage pre-show goings on ....
but writing it in a first person perspective
without identifying who you are as that first person
within the story ..... well that was just bad writing.
The exclamation point on that bad writing
was slamming it home by not including a byline.
I thought that the second I read it. The made up part, not the "Death of a Salesman" part.phjrsaunt wrote:Do they honestly expect us to believe that "Marty LAYMAN" is not a made-up name? How very "Death of a Salesman" that is.
I'm surprised you didn't right to the "LAY" component of "Layman."FunkHouse9 wrote:I thought that the second I read it. And here I thought I was "Marty Whoever"!rmissbrook wrote:Well, it could be LEYMAN or LEIMAN or LAYMON, etc., etc., etc.
Here's the link to the show on Jokelben. Draw your own conculsions. Marty Whoever joins Bing and Bong at about the 3:40 mark.

Alright. Mystery solved. But he still should have been properply credited. I am Auntie and I have spoken.conched wrote:Good job, Kay. I also listened to the Bing & Bong show before Tampa, as I got my Cocotel today. I heard Jimmy introduce Marty Lehmann from the Coconut Telegraph.
It is written by Marty Lehmann, who is the editor of the Coconut Telegaph and has been with Jimmy since the beginning of it I think.
