That's pretty funny.....Five Wives is made here locally.
They have a jaeger-ish stuff called "Underground" that is BOMB.
I've been really impressed with their marketing and they are just really nice people.

They do.
...that makes little sense as they allow Polygamy Porter from Wasatch Beers of Utah to be sold.

I wonder if these upstart brewers and distillers take as much time in crafting their product(s) as they do coming up with oooh-just-too-cutesy names and labels.

The head guy at the Idaho State Liquor Dispensary is a Mormon. He thought he would make the call on what "offends" Idahoans. He did not expect the ration of shizz he is getting from us who are not in the church (cult in my opinion).

and yet from my seat
A his intent was to keep up the Buy Idaho thing
B. He played the ban wrong had he gone with the whold Buy Idaho thing and stayed from the "we might anger some folks" angle
EVERY dipshizzzt who is "angry" about the ban would have backed his play

BTW in case anyone wonders.. IMHO the Buy local. (Buy _______) program is a huge excuse for
mediocrity

Up to a point, I disagree.  Advertisers spend huge amounts of money to get people to keep buying the same stuff because
• they've always done it
• it will make one appear 'cool' or 'hip'
• because someone you emulate buys it/uses it/endorses it.

AND PEOPLE CONTINUE TO FALL FOR IT!!!  Take Corona and that chunk of lime, for example.  Since when did it become necessary to jam a piece of lime into a bottle of beer?  Since Corona started marketing it that way, that's when.  And why only Corona?  If putting a lime into it makes a good beer better, then why aren't we stuffing wedges of lime into all beers?

As long as I mentioned beers, Budweiser or Coors or Miller Lite or even Landshark is a decent-enough beer.  They all taste good on a hot day, you can cop a mild buzz from them, and frankly I've drunk worse.  But one should always leave one's self open to new experiences — such as locally-produced products — especially with the explosion of micro-breweries that can offer varieties that the Big Three would never touch.  So try some of your locally-produced lager or liquor or wine.  You might be pleasantly surprised.

And if it turns out that it sucks, well, then at that point I agree with you.  No amount of "buy local" advertising will ever cover that up and the marketplace will have its say.

And why wouldn't they make a lot of different vodkas in Idaho?  Isn't Idaho known for growing potatoes, and weren't potatoes the traditional source of vodka?

On another note, State of Idaho changes mind, OK's "Five Wives Vodka".

Getting off topic here a bit. Talking about the lime wedges. I get a lime in my Dos Equis every time I order it. The last few summers, my favorite beer to drink has been Bud Light Lime. It is very refreshing, crisp and goes down so easy.

Agreed Wayne. Keep religion out of it, and should have gone with the Buy Idaho.

I always buy Idaho when I'm there.....a wonderful, sweet rum....made right there in Boise! It's honestly one of my favorite rums and it's uber cheap, too.....
Last time I picked up a bottle of Huckleberry Vodka that all of the cool kids were drinking....haven't even cracked it, but it sure is a pretty bottle.
