In East Tennessee, most refer to them as "lightning bugs". However, I do love me some firefly........ :wink:

Fireflies in southern and eastern Ontario, Canada.
We have lots of them at the cottage, most of the summer.

either, and they are the sign that summer has arrived with their first appearance. and I was 33 before I saw them the first time.

We don't have a word for them.

Mostly 'cause we don't have 'em.

Besides we have enough to deal with, well I mean just in my back garden we've got Red Back spiders, Funnel Web Spiders (real nasty), Mouse Spiders, a few species of snake (a couple of which are venomous), drop bears, hip-holes and last night we had a scrub turkey pay a visit.

Oh, and I live in Sydney, the biggest city in Australia.
