Andy passed away this morning in his him in Manteo NC.... Sail On....

This is particular sad for me because I grew up in "Mayberry" ( the town he was from and based the show on)....fans come from all over the world to find "Mayberry"...... Tourism bring in close to $100 million each year...They have entire festivals dedicated to the show and my family owns "The Bluebird Diner" featured on the show for years.....It will be a sad few days...

You know....but what a beautiful, graceful legacy he left behind. Everything about him was gentle, but firm. I never heard a bad word about him, I never heard him say a bad word.....boy....entertainment peeps could take a lesson.

Sail on Andy......

Yes, another piece of my childhood is gone.......

While going to school on the bus, we had a radio and the local station used to play

at least once a week.

I have a 10" 78RPM record of this on *wax* (not vinyl) ....
1/2 on side A and 1/2 on side B.

The record is a thick *breakable* style from the 1950s.

Sad ... I remember as a girl being a little jealous of Sheriff Andy's girlfriend ... wasn't she also Opie's teacher??? Can't remember her character's name ... What a coincidence that JB has been referencing Mayberry in the shows this tour ... Thanks for posting the song -- is it me or were people happy with simpler things long ago in Mayberry World?

Sail on to the fashion' hole, Andy ...

Sail on, Sherriff!
Black and white memories for me, too.
I always imagined the rest of the USA being like Mayberry, although the only parts I had ever visited were Detroit and Buffalo.
