ZZ Ward

Keep an eye on this one!
She opened for Grace Potter & the Nocturnals last night.......powerful voice out of a little tiny woman!
She's got such a sexy voice! Right now, on her website, you can download her "mix tape".....good stuff if
you like the kind of bluesy, Bonnie Raitt-ish kind of sound!

I'll be up close too. After Joe's went through a remodeling last year, they made it all reserved seating. When you buy tickets, you chose your seat from a seat map. I'm in the front row.

Listening to "Put The Gun Down" I'd swear that Adele was singing it.
Will have to check her out moreso. She's got a show in a sweaty little place in Detroit & a sweaty little place in Ann Arbor in early September.....so if nothing else it could save me a trip to the gym! [smilie=wrygrin.gif]

One of the Livestream cameramen was in the seat next to me, I was in the front row right in front of ZZ's mic stand.

Got home about 1/2 hour ago, I was uploading the pictures to my computer so I could post them on FB. Most of ZZ's music is loud, raucous and bluesy. About halfway through the show she and her guitarist sat down on stools with their acoustic guitars and she did "Last Love Song". I got goose bumps.

I've noticed that in publicity photos she tries to look all badass, like here ...
Image

She has such a great smile when she's up on stage and she's a tiny little thing, not really badass looking at all.

Tuned in for the final song. Wish I would have thought of it earlier.
Based upon her EP on I-tunes & her website, I was afraid she may go a bit hip-hop live. Although in the sample music I could tell she had the potential to go bluesy. Hopefully when the new CD hits it'll be a complete winner.

I looked for you. Livestream shots from the stage back to the crowd were few and far between and the audience was in the dark.

When I got home last night (actually early this morning, f'n LIRR late night schedule) I watched a little of it before before I went to bed. I saw the back of my head a lot.

At the end of the show I reached over the edge of the stage and grabbed the setlist so I could go to the merch table and get her to sign it for me. The guy 2 seats away from me told me he was waiting for me to leave so he could take it. You snooze, you lose.
