Jimmy still has a career.
Hank Jr. Ted Nuegent, the latest incarnation of Lynard Skynard and the like are so pollitically outraged in an attempt to hang onto having an audience of some kind for just a little bit longer.
For those who feel that voting is a waste of our time due to the politico's actions and greed.....well as a person in Alabama who dares not believe in conservatism I can agree with you some what. My vote is usually cast in defiance of our elected buffoons as a reminder that all of us do not harbor feelings against their fellow man. But back on track. The act of voting is the act of actually allowing yourself to have hope that someone will actually try and straighten out this mess.
And that is what is really important, without hope what have we got?

Well said.

Unfortunately he is the current Leader of the Opposition. A very Christian man, former student priest, who has the somewhat surprising idea that to solve the 'problem' of refugees arriving by boat, the Navy would simply tow them back to where they came from.

To me it is amazing that someone so clearly moronic and conniving could hold any sort of office...

as someone else mentioned between the OP and this one: most people voicing their annoyance want their favorite artist to have their views. Personally, sharing the "big tent of the Republican Party" with a guy like Ted and his history.. eh.

So you don't like Jimmy's politics, meh. s*** it up, or don't. He was making albums before you came on the scene, and probably will make a couple more whether you are there to buy them or not.

Jimmy has every right , if fact a responsibility to be something other than, just an entertainer. He is an American, with a right to support and vote for whoever he chooses.

In general Jimmy usually does some political benefits..... somewhere after the "summer concert season" is over and before the Election, on his own time. He has done his work and has earned his money and he is doing what he wants to do, absolutely his right!

Jimmy tends to be liberal with his politics and that is fine with a lot of people. If it isn't the same way you think....that unfortunately is your problem.
If you didn't know Jimmy was Liberal.......you can't be much of a fan.

IF everything and everyone in your life, has to share your same views for you to support them. May I would suggest, you go and live an a deserted Island, because if you get 2 people on that together....there is a 50/50 chance they are NOT going to agree with your politics!

Now you see, I agree with Jimmy's choices for the most part and that works out fine for me. If you don't agree, you gambled a 50/50 chance and lost! Do better do a better background check the next time!

Jimmy isn't IN the political arena. He's a musician, businessman, and citizen throwing his time, money, support where he chooses. No different than you or I doing the same in our own lives. It's not like he is exhorting parrotheads to follow his lead. And he makes it clear when the performance, like Singing for Change or the post-BP show, is in support of a specific cause, candidate, or charity so you can choose whether or not to attend.
You only have two options - havin' fun or freakin' out...

no you dont wish Jimmy would stay out of politics , you wish he was republican.

I bet your dad voted republican and his dad, and his dad

Most people dont vote their opinions and beliefs they vote for their "team" and then b**** when others dont vote for their team
I'm a registered Dem , but i don't always vote that way.. I didn't in the last election....in CT, for The Governor's position ,in the last election, i voted republican , the Dem won , and is hated here.
Me, too (a registered Democrat). I vote for whoever I think is the best person for the job, from either party. My beloved parents are die-hard Republicans and would NEVER think of voting for a Democrat, no matter what.

exactly! If you are interested in politics or passionate about a particular candidate, you do what you can to support your candidate--donate, make phone calls, host fundraising events, whatever. Jimmy is simply exercising the same right that all of us have, and shouldn't be denied his opportunity for involvement because of his fame. I appreciate his passion for the causes he believes in, and, though I agree with him politically, I appreciate that politics generally stays out of his concerts.

It makes me laugh when I read about the fans who wish that Jimmy would not speak his mind about his politics. Anyone who has kept up with Jimmy for the past 4+ decades really should know that Jimmy has opinions on issues, and he makes no secret about his opinions. At last check, we live in a country where we have the right to have our own beliefs. Jimmy's being a celebrity does not diminish his right to free speech. The bottom line is, I did not become a fan of Jimmy's because of his political views. I became a fan of the music, and it is a wonderful thing when an artist can be around for over 40 years, still love his summer job, and can make so many people forget their troubles for a little while and have fun.

If you're living a lifestyle that finds truth in his music, your political viewpoint is pretty aligned with his. He's done a great job of capitalizing on his success in business but at the heart of it, I still see a counter-culture songwriter who loves to mess with the elite. If he started voting for that elite, I'd question his songwriting.

The only difference for jimmy Buffett is that he is a singer and decides to use it as a tool to raise more funds for a respective candidate. Though I don't agree with Jimmy's support of democrat candidates, I don't get upset with him. It is his right to support whoever he wants, just like it is ours to support whoever we choose.
I agree with you, JB can support whomever he wants (and yes, a big part of me wishes he were supporting my candidate which isn't the case). I guess that's my only beef, that not only is he my favorite performer, but he supports someone politically that I don't. Dang, and I thought he and I agreed on everything!
