Re: Tryin to reason with the hurricane season
After two long, dark, and progressively colder nights, we have partial power restored to my house, (have a couple of outlets and one light working in each room). We still have no heat, hot water, or any major appliances such as fridge/freezer.
According to my power company, the transformer in my area is only partially working, providing power to only half of my circuit panel. (Don't ask, hubby gave up trying to explain it to me.) We suspect that since we have ~some~ power, we are low, low, low priority on the repair list.
Things to be thankful for:
1. Only casualty were 24 jello shots that were in the fridge. We weren't able to rescue them before the fridge got warm.
2. My job has an on-site health club, complete with shower facilities, that I'm able to use every day.
3. None of my friends or family suffered any major losses or ill effects.
4. No heat provides the opportunity for lots of snuggling and cuddling. (Hubby had a vasectomy so no worries about any surprises 9 months from now.)
5. Some power means I'm able to keep the rechargeable blender working, cell phone charged, and watch television. (Just can't have everything plugged in at the same time.)
I hope everyone else made it through relatively unscathed.
