You're right...it is kinda confusing. People do want the president to succeed at least in the sense that they want the country to be safe and to do well, and people to do well, etc. The president succeeding isn't just "get out of the way and do what I want because I am president". But...it also sounds like your definition of a failing president is what we just re-elected. That to me is confusing. The last 4 years resulted in higher deficits, higher unemployment, more business failures, etc. I think we did get lower interest rates though so if you do have a job that loan probably won't cost as much. Each side blames the other. Each side believes the way out of this mess is their way. Compromise is a dirty word. This country is divided almost right down the middle ideologically on what to do. Call me a pessimist, but I don't see the next 4 years to be any different than the last 4, maybe even worse. I hope I'm wrong.

I am with you on this one.
So many of the people who were at the rally last night in Chicago stayed out and partied so hard, it caused a lot of gridlock in the early morning rush hour traffic into the downtown Chicago area today. What normally is a 45 minute drive tops, took close to 90 minutes. Simple reason being, all those out "celebrating" didn't have jobs to go for, and on top of it
US Cellular today announced that they are leaving the Chicago market and making 100's of people now without jobs. Gotta love that 8% unemployment rate, which will now be higher in his own "hometown"
Of course the "high-ups" in the Company will still get THEIR 7 figure salaries.....but blame that on the President.
???? Come again? How is the President on the hook for the salaries of the "high-ups"???

I voted...I just did not vote for president. The news networks told me that if I didn't live in OH, VA or FL my vote didn't matter anyway and neither candidate was someone I could get behind.
While I lean very strongly to the right (I just don't believe big government is the answer) I actually voted for a democratic governor in my state because the republicans couldn't put a viable candidate on the ballot.
I hope the current president's policies work and this country begins to return to the greatness it once had. I just don't think that is going to happen. I believe his fiscal policies are flawed and the republican controlled house is going to fight him to the bitter end. Just more politics as usual once the "feel good" speeches over.
And talk about government trying to regulate everything...how about CA telling the p*** stars they have to wear condoms when making a film. The state is going broke and they are worried about p*** stars?

Ultimately, I don't say "Congratulations Mr. President".
I say, "You and your Congressional Buddies get to work"!

America voted for failure. There's plenty of blame to go around for why he failed but the bottom line is the President failed and America turned its back on a good man with a record of success. Nothing will change in the short term.

You know had Romney been more upfront and straight with the American people he probably could have pulled this election off.
But he was more worried about upsetting the ultra conservatives in his base (and they were going to vote for him anyways) than being trustable by the undecided voters. If he had of opened his tax returns and shown us that he didn't profit from moving American jobs overseas...people would have believed that he had the ability to bring back American jobs. But he didn't and they didn't.
If he would have publicly lambasted that "A woman has the ability to shut down a rape induced pregnancy naturally instead of needing an abortion.". idiot, instead he just kept his mouth shut....and women decided not to vote for him.
And his economic plan? Other than giving tax breaks to the wealthiest what was in it? We just had to trust him that Santa wasn't going to leave coal in our stockings on that one.
Yes Romney could have won the election.
And yes he should have won it.
But the very things that could have won it for him, the very things that were important to Americans, well the general arrogance and attitude of the Republican party and his advisers toward answering those questions gave the undecided voters no reason to vote for him.
Go back and read the responses of his backers in this thread. All they say is how much they hate the American President, not why their guy was better.
That is why Mitt Romney missed his chance to be President.
In my humble opinion.

he only lost by a percentage point or 2 (they really need to change the electorial vote thing )......he lost the election mainly because of the minority vote, and women. He won the the White Male Vote , They need to be more receptive to the minorities and there needs!!!....the women vote was 55 -45 % in Obama's Favor.....Now i hope The President proves me wrong and he was the right choice!!!

Romney has held elected office in one state...A state he lost to Obama by almost 30%. That's enough for me.
Oh, and as soon as the Republican Party starts to understand the concept of separation of church and state they will become relevant again.

Some other company will just step in to fill the void left by this cellular outfit. Its easy to blame the government for YOUR bad management decisions.

Church and State means nothing to me......it's the economy, Jobs and national security that matter to me!!!....and i'm a registered democrate....???? for you Matt , is Malloy doing a good job here in CT????

Some company already has — US Cellular sold the Chicago region and some of their downstate Illinois markets to Sprint/Nextel.
http://uscellularinfo.com/
As you can see, they still have a strong retail presence in much of the central Midwest, and their partnerships to share other carrier's towers elsewhere gives them a cellular footprint that rivals that of Verizon Wireless. I'm in La Crosse WI and have been with US Cellular since the early 1990s, and it's still business as usual up here. And BTW, skier, as recently as Jan 2012 Consumer Reports magazine ranked US Cellular as one of the best regional carriers
(as opposed to the four big national systems — Verizon Wireless, Sprint, T-Mobile, and ATT) in terms of service, coverage, and customer satisfaction....and I've had no experiences with them that would make me disagree with that. I think that they're content to be a big fish in a small pond and have no intention of trying to go head-to-head with the likes of the Big Four carriers.
