This was in last Thursday's strip. I don't think anyone else has posted it that I can find. (Of course there should be a shout out to Alan Jackson, also,)

Don did post it in the daily MSC thread...but not everyone visits that and you can never have too many Buffett-in-pop-culture references. [smilie=cheeky-grin.gif]

Right. If the strip is going to do a shout out to Jimmy Buffet,
it should also do a shout out to Alan Jackso ......

I feel the same way.  I occasionally wonder how A.J. feels about so many people incorrectly associating "his" song to Jimmy based on Bubba's cameo appearance.

Even though neither Buffett or Jackson had a hand in writing it, "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere" is probably more closely associated with Buffett not just because of his cameo appearance in Alan Jackson's version of the song but because the aesthetic expressed is something that's naturally tied in with Buffett. Even though the general populace probably isn't aware of it, it's also become a fixture of Buffett's setlists and for good reason. It included a nod to Buffett in an effort on Jackson's part to give him some much needed exposure to a newer, wider audience. I seriously doubt that comic strips such as this where Buffett seems to get the credit bother Jackson all that much, if it all. After all, I believe that's why he gave Buffett a cameo in the song to start with.

This particular comic strip seems quite ironic, seeing as though these "Dustin" comics from a few years ago reveal that the father and mother are Parrotheads, much to the bewilderment of the strip's teenaged protagonist:

All the more reason the cartoonist (and his editor) should know by now how to spell Buffet(T) .....

Wow, it only took ten posts for someone to finally mention that. It has to be some sort of new world record for BN ;)

That was the reason I spelled AJ's name leaving off the last letter (but no one picked up on that) ....
Right. If the strip is going to do a shout out to Jimmy Buffet,
it should also do a shout out to Alan Jackso ......

Jimmy may also have licensing rights to the "5 O'Clock Somewhere" brand - it's part of his merchandise and part of the his casinos. Or he may be sharing the rights with Alan and/or the writer.

Anyway, I just like to see JB mentioned! [smilie=battingeyes.gif]

Especially since it was spelled correctly in the three strips Harbour Shark linked to!
