The venue calendar shows a sporting event that night.

The venue is awaiting word from the NHL. If hockey is fully cancelled for the season from the lockout, Jimmy Buffett gets first rights for that date. That is why this date did not go onsale at the same time as the other Florida dates. If the NHL comes to an agreement to have a shortened season, the schedule has to be redone to accommodate a shorter season and this date may be released by the Panthers. This is posted under rumors so take it as a rumor but it is very likely.

How could they put tickets on sale for a show that hasn't even been announced? The hockey season has only cancelled games until mid Jan. as of last week.

I see no credibility to the rumor of a Buffett show on 2/2 in Lauderdale. As of 12/23 there is a Panther game scheduled for that evening. Buffett and his people know that many fans travel for these events. As such, each day that goes by makes it less likely that there will be a show on 2/2. I predict that there will be a show in South Florida, not in February, in March at the beginning of the new tour. --Cap'n Bobby

PS I hope that he doesn't play in Lauderdale. I much prefer to see him at Cruzan in West Palm or at the AAA in Miami.

As of January 1, there still is a hockey game scheduled for this facility on February 2, Winnipeg vs. Florida, to be televised on CBS. Based on previous precedents with NHL labor disputes, if a contract agreement is reached by mid-January, games could resume a week later. I sincerely doubt that there is going to be a Buffett show in Sunrise, FL on the 2 of February. I anticipate a Buffett show in South FLA this winter or spring, but not on February 2 in Sunrise. Stay tuned, the jungle drums are beating.

As a hockey guy, I believe that the current NHL schedule means nothing in terms of dates. If the Lockout does happen to end, the NHL will be playing a shortened 48-game season, completely different from the current 82-game schedule that you see on Ticketmaster, etc. The entire schedule would need to be re-written to accommodate the shorter season. So the chances of a Winnipeg/Florida game actually taking place on February 2nd are extremely slim right now despite the original booking for that evening.

This might be doable. Airfare is cheaper from MYR to FLL then it is to Pensacola or Jacksonville.
