It would be more than hilarious....... sorry I am one of the few people who HATES Alpine Valley, wouldn't even go there if they somehow resurrected John Lennon and George Harrison for a one time Beatles Reunion show
Did you hear the one about me being a punk?
Did you hear the one about me being a drunk?
Did you hear the one about me losing my nerve?
Or how I'm just another f**** sheep in the herd?
Did you hear the one about me giving a s***?
Cause if I ever did I don't remember it.

Nighthawk, why you don't start an official BN "I hate Alpine" social group? I bet you could get Buffettbride to join, too! You could organize meet & greet events, swap anti-Alpine stories and discuss the many reasons why Alpine Valley Music Theatre should be blown up to smithereens! Hey, you might even print up some "I hate Alpine" tee shirts - wouldn't that be cute? [smilie=cheeky-grin.gif] Good for you!

I don't hate Alpine, but I am going off of what has happened historically. Jimmy played a different venue in Chicago (Wrigley) and there was no Alpine show in order to ensure high attendance at an overpriced, historic venue.

Fast forward to now. Jimmy is playing a new/renovated venue in Chicago as sort of a Christening of the renovation, and charging insanely high prices for it. The best way to make sure fans go to Chicago instead of Alpine and pay the higher prices is to NOT have a show in Alpine.

I'm not saying it WILL happen that way. The 8/24 rumor sounds like an almost-sure-thing.

What makes me laugh is the sense of entitlement of creating a "Who's going to Alpine xx/xx/13 thread" before it is locked and loaded. I guess after seeing venue cancellations over the last few years, that Parrotheads would be smarter than counting chickens before the eggs have hatched.

The "Who's Going To Great Woods" thread was started June 23, 2012. And it was up to 28 pages before this year's show was even announced!

It was moved from the "Who's Going To" Forum to the "Social" area till an official announcement was made, then moved back again.

Yeah...to be fair, Mal, there are always a lot of these threads started early.

I wouldn't call it a sense of entitlement...for the most part, we're posting in THIS thread. A few comments in the "Who's Going" thread, but mostly in the rumors thread. Steve has the "Who's Going" thread going because he hosts one of the best pre-show parties at his establishment, and it helps him for planning and promotional purposes to know who is planning what.

Nighthawk is too busy dodging all the murderers and gangbangers running around wild through the streets of downtown Chicago (see Chicago thread) to worry about that. Apparently he hates Alpine, Chicago, and probably little puppies too. This guy totally brings the LOLZ!!
edit: I just saw that his sig is a quote from the Ricky Bobby movie. Nuff said about this genie-ass. [smilie=nope.gif]

If there's no Alpine concert, yeah, it'll be disappointing, but certainly not catastrauphic.
Remember our P.H. friends on the west coast who consider themselves lucky if they get a concert once every five years.
And yes, the Great Woods folks will have a "Who's going to G.W., 2014" thread started the day after their concert, and it'll be up to 20 pages within a week.

If there's a concert at Alpine, great, if not, I can make a road trip to Indianapolis, Nashville, Cincinnati, or wherever just as easy as Alpine.
I hope an Alpine announcement is made soon, but, if not, somehow my life will go on.

Except...there are now discussions Alpine will be bypassed again in favor of a Minneapolis stop in September. As always, don't believe those who claim to be in the know as they don't always know, but are just wishing really, really hard.

Where would Jimmy play here in the Cities? Target field perhaps? Doubt it. He hasn't been here since 2005.
And 1/3 of the people that show up to Alpine are from Minnesota. Jimmy could sell out here and Alpine no problem.

Glad I can finally join you all again. I have been trying to reactivate my account for months, (tried all my usernames and passwords, and nothing worked, also emailed the contact for this site and no one ever got back to me?) Lordy that was frustrating. Anyway, waiting along with the rest of you on this Alpine date. I am excited for the new Chicago venue since I live downtown and Charter One is awesome...but its just not Alpine. What about the rock solid rumors of August 24th, these are still pretty good right? Ticket sites still showing this date...??

We heard early rumors about "The Bank" (TCF Stadium at the University of MN). If it's there, the club will throw a big party!
Do you know the difference between a Deadhead and a Parrothead?.......The limit on their credit cards.

And now, let's take a moment and bow our heads for the "Man's Prayer":

I'm a man,
and I can change.
If I have to.
I guess.

So is anyone hearing anything? Seems like with the Chicago date set, an Alpine one shouldn't be far behind (if it's gonna happen).. Are the clubs hearing anything? Steve? Anyone?
