What gives Jimmy?

Post by waikikimermaid »

Most entertainers know and publish their tour schedules so that their dedicated fans can plan an purchase tix to their favorite venues and shows. I am pretty sure - you know what your doing for the next several months and even in to the summer - why do you withhold the info - giving last minute notification at times - with teasers - "going back to that "One Particular Harbour" in Tahiti (for years) with about 2 or 3 weeks notice - to coming back to "Hawaii" March? - down under to "Australia" March/April? WTF! Do you not want your fans to follow you?

No, he doesn't. He needs all available fuel for his private fleet of aircraft and ships. Jimmy is a staunch environmentalist ya know.
the hit and run is as good as any religion around this time of year . . .

My guess is because his shows no longer sell out in a matter of hours like they used to. The less time you have to buy tickets before the show forces people to make quick impulse purcheses fearing that the show may "sell out." Just my two cents...

It's been this way since I've been going to see him in 2005, no one knows the reason and we have this conversation every year. The one time he DID disclose the whole tour in advance some of the shows ended up cancelled and people were p*ssed (and rightly so) because they took vacation time and paid for hotels and lost money they couldn't get back.
GW - 7/19
Great Northern MOTM - 7/20-21
Hershey Labor Day Weekend Show - 8/29
MOTM - Oct 28

Most fans will follow!!!!.....that's why he can do it!!!.......it does get frustrating at times though , mainly ,if you want to travel to a show that requires flying.....and taking time off from work.

Even back in "the day", he never announced his full set of tour dates until late February or early March. In fact, I believe last year was the first time he changed that. And I am fairly certain that the late announcements for certain venues had to do with the negotiations with the venues.

Does anyone here really think Jimmy Buffett is picking up the phone, calling the Manager of Alpine Valley, and saying "Hey guys, I'm free the 3rd weekend in July. You available?". The answer to that would be, "DUH".

His shows will be announced when they are booked. Remember, his people are planning a TOUR, not just a bunch of random shows. If you think it's easy, you are insane.

The rise of Ticketmaster and Live Nation has alot to do with this. Not too many artists (including JB and his people) can do much without their approval.

Buffett has done it this way for sometime now. We all can either agree or disagree, but Entertainers such as Kenny Chesney, The Zac Brown Band (which was a awesome show in Roanoke Va. 1/25/13) and or course others seem to already have a great deal of venue shows listed. Now we all know that Jimmy has been doing shows for 40+ years or more and you would think that he'd at least have more than the 3 shows listed, which only date up to 5 days from now. It's a pretty safe bet to say that where there is a new Margaritaville to be announced, he will surely be there. Just my opinion, but just keep in mind that this is the Jimmy of new and it's all about the Green stuff [smilie=cheeky-grin.gif]
