Finally Completed My Buffet Library
Call me superstitious, or whatnot, but I had been holding out on buying "Somewhere Over China" for a number of years. Besides, most of the "better" songs on this album are on the box set. And for the past ten years or so, I was kind of thinking Santa Claus would put it in my stocking one of these years.
Years came and went, and I religiously buy the new studio albums, good or bad, as they come out. Still, no "Somewhere over China." Well, I bought it this week. I was doing an Amazon order that included The Beatles, Wayne Toupes, and the new Matt Hoggatt (y'all need to get this!), and I thought, "what the hell?" So I clicked "add to cart", and now I have it.
It's a nice sunny day down here on the Texas Coastal Bend. I'm sitting under a gigantic live oak in my back yard as I type this, sipping a mojito, listening to "Somewhere Over China!"
I thought y'all should know this. (Now give us a Woodlands date!)
Cheers!

They are easy:
Use Flor de Cana 7 year (my supply of Habana Club is unreliable). If you can't get Flor de Cana, make sure you use a Spanish rum, not an English rum. They are different.
Use a beer pint glass. Put in mint, the juice of two Mexican or Key limes, one tea spoon of sugar. Muddle all of this together.
Add ice, and as much rum as you desire. Top with club soda, and a splash of sprite (not 7-up). Shake gently, do not stir, and enjoy!!!

Good job! Glad you have completed the library. Sure hope there are more in the future.
And, yes, hope The Woodlands is in the NEAR future!
We started buying Flor de Cana Gold 4 after our trip to Costa Rica a couple years ago.

Picked up Coconut Telegraph on CD in the used bin at one of our local record stores today. Since I already own the bulk of Buffett's back catalog on vinyl I've kind of held off on buying some of the older titles on CD. I've also been holding out hope that one day he'll see fit to re-release a lot of those albums in expanded, remastered editions on compact disc. I figure once I complete my Buffett CD collection he'll start his reissue campaign.

I'd love to see a complete back issue remaster with the original artwork, and some demo takes. And Havana Daydreamin' with "Please Take Your Drunken 15 y/o g/f Home" on it. Let's be honest, the MCA CDs really kind of blow. Especially with the "nice price" sticker on them.
I think Jimmy would have done it already if it was going to happen.

Re: Finally Completed My Buffet Library
A former poster here who went by the name of "Parrot Monkey" created a website several years ago called Buffett Remasters where he posted scans of all of the original artwork, liner notes, etc. of Buffett's albums (I think up to Off To See the Lizard, the last one issued on vinyl) so you could see everything you don't get with the compact disc versions. Unfortunately it's now off line. I wish it was still out there because he put a lot of work into it. He also made a very good case for deluxe reissues, not only from a packaging standpoint but also from a sonic one. While Buffett's out there opening another casino, Margaritaville, etc. or adding another item to the never ending Margartiaville, Inc. product line his back catalog continues to languish. He's probably the only performer of his stature that's yet to re-release deluxe editions of his albums. I'd be much more interested in that than any of his non-musical ventures. You can still access BuffettRemasters.com thanks to the Wayback Machine although the images are missing. Thankfully, Parrot Monkey made all of those available for use over at Buffett W o r l d.com.

Re: Finally Completed My Buffet Library
I remember a few year back I saw a golden deluxe cd of Changes in Latitudes for sale in Best Buy. It was remastered.
It costed a little more and sadly, I did not buy one.
Here's a pic of one on ebay. It's going for 85 smackers.
So until they're remastered, I'll just turn it up a little louder and edge the bass up a bit.
There's actually a couple of his cds that I ran though my mixer and added more bass and volume to.
Sort of the poor man's master. Last Mango is one of them. It's recorded really low.

The volume level on the CD version of You Had To Be There is also very low, at least mine is.
Re: Finally Completed My Buffet Library
The albums White Sport Coat, Son of A Son of A Sailor, and Changes have all been released on re-mastered gold CD's. There is also a gold CD version of Songs You Know by Heart.

Re: Finally Completed My Buffet Library
I'd love to see his entire back catalog (particularly the ABC/Dunhill era) remastered and re-released as deluxe editions complete with the original artwork and bonus tracks comprised of previously unreleased material (studio and/or live). If nearly every recording artist under the sun can do it, so can Buffett. The reality is, we'll see another casino or restaurant opening first, unfortunately.
