Who's going to Austin, TX, 05-02-13 TIME CHANGE pg 1 !!

We will do our venue test run at the ZBB show on the 18th. I hope they work out the bathrooms, that is an odd problem to have for such a large venue! (maybe it is different for the races).
It is new and I doubt the kinks will be worked out by Buffett but maybe it will improve over the next few months.

Was there any tailgating at KC? I was wondering about that layout?

What time are people going to be arriving on the 2nd? We are game for whatever, we will be in the car so not a lot of room from much 'stuff' but we can certainly bring some sausages and buns to share if there will be a grill.

The bathroom isn't an issue for the races because they are during the day. The concert is at night and when it gets dark out there, it is pitch dark! There was tailgating at KC but I didn't get to see much of it. The slope on the floor seats was too much slope and my feet started to really hurt. The grass looked terrible because I couldn't figure out how those people could see anything.

Yep, we are in the same boat. I noticed that you can bring you 'legless' chair for the lawn, the one I saw in pictures are the beach chairs that do have the slight rise under the seat. I think we are carrying a couple and will try to be there early to mark our lawn spot.

We are in the lawn for JB too but after being there, I am not looking forward to it. Too flat and you end up standing the whole time.

Mrs. Bucarader said the same thing; she is no longer looking forward to the show now that we are hearing how terrible of a venue it is.

The bigger question is why didn't "Austin" build this venue right? Being the live music capital, someone should have known how to build the lawn at this facility and how to install restrooms.

Knowing that they just finished the concession stands days before the KC show, I am hoping it is just not finished yet! They have a lot of improvements to make and hopefully they know it. I gave the venue a terrible review on TM.

Is there any where closer than the hotels at Riverside and 290/71 for all of us to meet up and drive to the venue? With mom's surgery, it put a change in my plans to do exploratory driving around the venue for a meet up spot.

Part of our group lives in Austin, so we are just going to leave from their house. Thankfully we have two parking passes.

We were thinking about hanging out at Billy's on Burnet before the concert. But that's a long drive from there out to the racetrack. Plus who knows how bad the traffic will be.

I really miss being able to stay at the Woodlands Marriott and walking across the street. The decision to skip Houston in favor of Austin is becoming more and more of a bummer each day.

There really is not a lot out there.... although there is a convenience store with a McDonalds and such but I am not sure if that is before or after the Airport. I am thinking it may be between the Airport and the Venue.
We will be going to the ZBB concert on the 18th and I can scout it out then for the best meet up place.

Only one lane roads to get in on either side of the track so traffic getting in is gonna be bad. After that, all toll road and 80-85 mph speed limits depending on which way you are going. Nothing else out there. They really built this in BFE Elroy, TX and not Austin even though they keep calling it Austin. The people of Elroy will tell you exactly where it is!

That means we would probably want to meet up around 8 to get organized and then drive to the venue.

There is an Exxon station at Riverside and 71/290 where we can meet up. From there, it should be an easy drive to the venue.

Jus wanted to say "High" to everyone. I'm new to this forum, hope to meet ya'll on May 2nd. Living in the Texas hill country now, been a parrothead for...ummm...42 years !?! First saw Jimmy in a club in Coconut Grove in '71, taking my wife for her first JB concert. We'll arrive around 3pm and will scout the parking lots for ya'll. Had to go to a secondary ticket seller (scalper) for our seats but I'm stoked...Row F, Section 1 floor.
Until then...Dreamin of the island life...

We actually had a pretty good seat on the lawn last night at the venue, we were at the very front of the lawn, well 3 feet back (that is some silly rule). even though it says you can bring chair with no legs, be careful, they would not le tus bring ours, but other had some just like them. They are definately still working out the kinks.

The bathroom porta poddy 'trailer' that I used did have lighting but I think someone said the set up was a bit different from KC.

I did not see any meetup place on the way out there, we will be coming in on the toll road the whole way so we will have to meet up close to the venue, we will figure it out somehow.
