Cool poster, thanks for posting. As for Jackson's solo tour, I'm pretty sure that's how he's been touring for the past several years. As I previously mentioned, he's released a couple acoustic CD's from those shows. They're very worthy additions to the collections of anyone that's a Jackson Browne fan. Same thing for the double album live set he released with David Lindley. His last studio record isn't bad at all either, definitely far superior to Buffet Hotel and I say that as someone who's a fan of the majority of that album.
Another poster from that same time period that included Buffett and Zevon.
I would bet Browne will just do a couple shows at most.
I would suspect it'll be like when Lionel Richie guested with JB in Detroit.
Lionel did a "hit-filled" 50 minute set or so. Buffett did his regular show.
If Jax B. does more than an hour on his own I be shocked!

Personally, I would rather see Mac and Peter get to do a couple of their songs, instead. Both are amazing artists on their merit. just my thoughts.
Agreed 100%. I would be fine (ok, it would be awesome)with him showcasing Mac and Peter as an "intermission" or throughout the show to give JB a break. I loved hearing Jake and Ilo, but JB doesn't need an opening act.
"Like" very much "like"
And I think this may be a "one off" (or "two off" as it were) Jackson Browne is playing at Tanglewood MA in early July so he has his own gigs going on. I doubt it's a full out tour. But it could be interesting

The details on these two shows remain sketchy at present in regards to how long Jackson will be playing but co-headlining bills aren't all that uncommon these days. With those shows you get two marquee value names playing sets that last roughly the same amount of time. For those hoping that he only plays 4-5 songs (or less), I seriously doubt an artist of Jackson Browne's stature would agree to a set that short. Just because you haven't heard of him or would prefer another artist share a bill with Buffett instead it doesn't mean he isn't worthy of having the same amount of stage time (or more) than Buffett.
Saw Jackson Browne in 1976, then again about ten years ago. I was a huge fan back in the day. I don't care for the politicizing on stage, though. He was very vocal in the last show. While I think he is sincere in his convictions, and I've read that he works tirelessly for causes that he cares about, I don't really care to hear an artist go on about his/her political beliefs and theories in between songs. If the songs themselves are politically oriented, fine. And that goes for the other JB, too. Not interested in what they think of politics. And at the price of concert tix nowadays, I don't think I should have to be subjected to it. I would not pay to see Jackson Browne on his own b/c of this. Have not been to see Springsteen in the past 15 years or so for the same reason.

I saw Jackson perform a solo concert in Durham, NC in 2009 and never once did he make any sort of political statements from the stage.

We were probably sitting right next to each other at GSAC. Did you get your baseball style concert T-shirt? They were all the rage then.
Like I said, he put on a good show, I saw him at No Nukes, too. And he is passionate about his beliefs. I don't even care about that so much. But he's a very different kind of performer than Jimmy and the show - and the prelude to the show - is a completely different vibe. While Jackson may have been the bigger artist back in the day, I have not followed him in years. So while I would dance and sing along to Doctor My Eyes, The Pretender, etc...if he does more than his few hits I'll simply be a casual observer...waiting for Jimmy.
You only have two options - havin' fun or freakin' out...

I had SUCH A CRUSH on Jackson Browne when I was in high school! Bought a t shirt at Jack's music shop with the "For Everyman" album cover on it. He has had a lot of tragedy in his life. AND he helped write my theme song (SGH ...) Did you know he hit the road when he was 16? That's when he wrote "These Days" (there I go, being a little font again, so obnoxious!) Anyway, peace, out. I gotta go work for the man now!

I'm not saying Jackson Browne is a bad artist or not worth going to. What I'm saying is that Jimmy doesn't need a "name" co-bill. And he certainly doesn't need an opening act. If he wants to showcase an up and coming artist he discovered like Ilo for a few songs - that is great.
It looks to me like Jackson Browne is going to get a fairly long set. And I fear this will translate into Jimmy only playing about 15-20 songs.
Don't try to describe the ocean if you've never seen it.
I'm looking forward to seeing Jackson Browne as the opening act. It'll be the first Buffett concert in years where I won't be able to predict 1/2 the songs I'll be hearing a month before the show.
I understand. And again, not to discredit Jackson Browne. But I'm not excited to go see a shortened Jimmy show so Jackson Browne can play a 45 min set.
Also, there are many Texas artists that would have worked better, in my opinion. Lyle Lovett, Robert Earl Keen, Jerry Jeff, Kinky Friedman, etc. Even Larry Joe Taylor or Jerry Diaz.
But anyway. I'll be there. And it is what it is.

I am with you Larry on this one....
Are you going to both in TX, or just Frisco?

Again, I'd place my bet you won't get any less of Buffett.....you'll just get a dose of Jax B for 8-9 songs (50-60 minutes).
I think everybody is getting the wrong idea about this "twin-bill" thing. I may be wrong............but..................check back later to tell me so!

This article from the Dallas News where the author refers to Buffett and Browne as an "odd couple" is apparently oblivious to the fact that there was indeed a time when Buffett sharing a bill with the likes of Jackson Browne (as well as Warren Zevon) wasn't considered to be unusual at all*. It only helps to illustrate the dilemma I often run into when attempting to explain my Buffett fandom to those that only know him from his post Parrothead image as "the Mayor of Margaritaville". Again, I realize it's not a very popular opinion but I'll always prefer this era of his career to the one where, when you mention Buffett's name to someone, the first thing to pop into their mind is an image of overzealous Parrotheads. By the same token, I also don't begrudge Buffett one iota of his success and how he's been able to sustain it for so long (thanks in no small part to the Parrothead phenomenon) but give me the Jimmy Buffett that once shared bills with renowned singer/songwriters such as Browne and Zevon any day of the week over the "Mayor of Margaritaville" Buffett.
*The Dallas News has since added one of the old Browne, Buffett, Zevon posters to the article that has been posted here

Better plan those bathroom runs a little differently for this show.

I'm going to see if I can come up with a good seat for the Austin show, then maybe I'll go to both. I don't do the lawn and if I can't get something near the front of the pavilion I'll skip Austin, wait 2 days and go to Frisco.
It's not uncommon for Jackson Browne to open for someone. About 6 years ago I believe, he opened for Tom Petty. He played for 45 to an hour.
Don't know if it's been mentioned here, but the Frisco show starts at 7P, not 8p like Jimmy's show usually do. So I'd say a 45-60min set for JB and a full set for the other JB.

The Frisco shows always start earlier than normal. He's played there 5 other times and those shows were all 7:30 starts.

This
and the poster who said Brown should be opening for Jimmy is crazy. Jackson Browne would have a hard time filling middle sized theaters and there's no way he would sell out a 20 show shed tour like Jimmy.
