First of all, that requires the power to be operating.  The days of the manual bilge pumps have gone the way of marlinspikes, jibsprits, and staysails.
Secondly, I believe that there's this annoying little international law that prohibits that sort of thing, even under circumstances like these.

Frankly, when they started designing and building this new breed of 'super-liners' that look less like ships and more like hotels on a hull, I wonder if they ever considered the problems of caring for 5000 passengers and crew under less-than-ideal conditions.  Doesn't seem like it.....

Honestly, I think I've had enough of cruising.....it's a week of gluttony and crowds....
I still just want to rent the island at French Louie Caye for a week and go all sorts of Gilligan.

Seriously, if you really want a Giligans' Island experience, check out Jeep Island in Micronesia.

It is tiny and massively isolated - but the resort will bring food and foo-foo drink supplies each day...

A bit bigger but no less Gilligans' Island is Tranquillity Resort in Vanuatu

http://www.tranquillityislandecoresort.com/

I've visited both and they are for hard-core kicking back and extreme relaxing. Well if you can get over the urge to keep a look out for the Professor or Mary-Anne...
I would definitely bring my own Mary Ann if I were to go for something like this.
As for Mary Ann herself, she don't look too bad for a girl in her seventies....

it's from The Onion...not true.
I know. But sometimes it's fun to pretend that their stories are for real... [smilie=cheeky-grin.gif]
see post previous to this?
The fact a bus broke down, that's true. The Onion just took it to a crazy extreme...

Personally, I'll go with it being the passengers who are having their share of problems. Like wading through poop.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Pinot Noir in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO"

Aaand now it's the Legend, too. Sounds like they broke one of the Azipods (from a quick Google, it sounds like it's the tranny for one of the props), so everything is fine, they're just moving slowly.
