I'm sorry but I can not participate in such rowdiness. What would the good people of Cincinnati think?

that you were displaying uncharacteristic restraint, and where you were keeping your brand-new, shiny, WCTU membership card?

I'll buy you a birthday drink at the tailgate!
Uh, second thing - did I mention I was coming to Cincinnati??
No, I didn't mention I was coming. Shoot!

I can't even blame Facebook... Where DOES the time go?? This was so far away for so long.
Anyway, sad to say that it'll just be Marty this trip. Unfortunately, the part of the franchise that everyone would rather see cannot get the time off, but Moe does send her love and regrets.
Some of you may remember David, the Alpha Parrot of the WNYPHC, who inexplicably falls asleep at peoples tailgates - he will be along with me for Cher to harass (actually, everyone can harass him, as this is his last concert as a single guy!)
Anywho, sorry to all for being 'incommunicado' - but I really can't wait to see all our 'Cincy' friends again and meet some new ones! Thanx for the parking lot updates, Cher - and Bodypainter, I've enjoyed the pictures of your work thus far! Todd, rum AND tequila, correct? (Just checking). Linda, thanx for the pirate ship tip (you always make me laugh!) Scott & Carol, Lisa & Dean, Mother Flocker, gosh, the list goes on & on. Cannot wait!!
Wow, a week from now I'll be drunk in Cincinnati...probably giving Jimmy my camera and asking if he would mind taking a photo of me & Charleston together...
Woo-hoo!!
Phins & Grins,
-The M
WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!!
Wish Moe was coming...

Love and hugs for her!!!

Moe you will be missed. Marty good to hear we will see you and the sleeper again this year.
so.....I went to the John Mayer concert at Riverbend last night.....this was after near a week of rain/storms. Coney got well over 2 inches rain. The turf they put down last year really makes a difference in the Lawn experience.
This was not a sold out concert, the pavilion- yes, the lawn was only 1/2 full. HOWEVER available parking was still limited.
BTW, Concert was great, JM is so much better live.
On the 4th of July, there was no parking available. Coney had closed the entrance to parking, people were parking on side streets and on I-275 then walking down to the Coney/Riverbend to see the Balloon Fest.
First weather:
Jul 15 -- 87° - 68° Partly Cloudy Chance of rain: 10%
Jul 16 -- 87° - 68° Partly Cloudy Chance of rain: 10%

I just called coney island and spoke with a very nice lady. She said they were not being given a exact time for opening the lots, but they would be open by noon. I plan to call again tomorrow and see if I get the same response.

Oh gesh! I just got this from Riverbend
Parking and Traffic Alert for this Summer
Due to the reconstruction of River Downs, all concert traffic must now enter through Coney Island Gates 1 and 2 on Kellogg Avenue. Parking will not be available in the River Downs lots.
Also, because of construction on I-471 south, allow extra time to travel or seek an alternate route. Both Exit # 71-New Richmond and # 72-Kellogg Avenue off of I-275 permit access to entrance gates. When leaving the venue, remember that turning left or right (east or west) on Kellogg Avenue will lead to both directions on I-275.
I forgot to tell you there is major construction on I-471 (from downtown south to I-275). Last I heard it is down to 1 lane. Rush hour starts about 3pm - there will be delays. ** there is NO construction going northbound from I-275 to 471.
Safe travels.

probably not triple digit heat indexes this year.
may have to rethink that.....highs right now are varying from 88 to 92, but little chance of rain!

For all who were inquiring (citcat)....the original pre-party plans were to have about 4 bands and a "street party" outside of Margaritaville at the casino's venue (called The Shoe). Margaritaville was to take charge in that. Not sure exactly what happened, but one can assume that the Casino was not in favor of it or M'ville didn't have the funds. My guess is the casino had more to do with it. After all, they absolutely forbid JB from showing up on opening night and ruin "their" party. Now the Boat Drunks are the only ones that are playing and they are on from 8pm until midnight.
There are a couple of hotels downtown area that are offering shuttles. If you have not made plans I can find out exactly which ones. From what I've heard most people are choosing Newport, Covington and Downtown Cincy as opposed to the Eastgate area that was more favorable in the past.
The tailgating will be a bit more of a mess this year for sure. The two lots at the corner of Kellogg and Sutton will be pretty much the same as always. Not sure about the use of campers and RVs since no one seems to want to answer when asked. I will try to find out for sure asap. As noted, River Downs is not an option at all. At least one lot across the street should be okay. Coney Island has plenty of parking. No tailgating allowed in those lots (although they may be a little more relaxed about very small groups. Years ago they fit everyone in those lots for Buffett as well as other sold out shows. There really was no tailgating at all back then across the street or River Downs. Suggestion: Have a cooler with wheels and walk to the party spots if you have to.
I will hopefully get a clearer update for you all by Friday.

Hi! Wisconsin parrothead here in need of some help! We couldn't go to the Chicago show this year so we decided to try Cincinatti but we are confused even after reading this thread about where to go to tailgate! So here are some questions.....
Where is the best place that we can park and tailgate this year?
What time should we be to the lot to tailgate?
Are charcoal grills allowed or just gas grills?
Are there a lot of port-a-potties? (We usually have our own anyway.)
We are really looking forward to the tailgate, we have hear good things about your city and Buffett tailgating. Oh and we are bringing cheese curds (a Wisconsin favorite) to share!

There are lots across from Riverbend/Coney Island. Get there before noon if at all possible. The rules have changed this year, I don't know about grills, but I'm sure they will be allowed (how else are we gonna eat ?)

Portapotties: yes. The later in the day it is, the worse they get...some people are just totally uncouth

. I bring my own toilet paper/paper towels, as it is usually gone by mid-afternoon.
The temperature is gonna be under 90 ?
GOOD GOSH that's chilly
!!! Bring your coats and mittens for heaven's sake.
