Jiffy Lube, maybe so, but once the show starts that doesn't matter, and tonight's sounded great!jbfinscj wrote:I know some of you hate jiffy lube live, but tonight was an awesome show!
Hey Linnie! Wish you were coming up for Jones Beach this week! Mike and I would love to see you guys! We were just discussing the lobster tails last night while planning our tailgate menu! YUM!Carolinadreamin' wrote:Sorry I didn't get to the venue in time to meet (not meat) up with the Critter Cove Crew.I was on a club bus from a bar and we (of course) didn't leave when we were supposed to......shocking...
I went to the Cove and got kind of sad so we decided to go in about 7:30. Good thing....some folks from our bus waited until about 7:45 and missed the first song.
Before I list random post concert thoughts, please know, I hadn't truly decided to go to this show until Friday morning. And then Friday was a work day then some doctor visits, so planning was minimal.
Cars seemed to be jammed into some lots and others looked empty. Tailgates were literally on top of one another. I took this as JLL way of not letting the circus atmosphere get started.
People looked like they were having fun but it seemed very subdued. Thank God it was overcast. Sunny, hot and humid would have had folks dropping like flies. What time did the gates actually open?
There were almost as many cops as there were concert goers. I saw cops with Corrections Department on their uniforms. Did inmates have tickets to the show? There was a giant police RV (drunk tank?) with loads of 4WDs of cops racing around the venue. What a complete contrast to the cops we fed at FedEx Field for Kenny Chesney, who said they would watch our stuff.
The port-a-potty lines were at least 75 people long. Looked like a lot of them had been removed. Good thing we had a bathroom on the bus!
At the security checkpoint going in, they made my husband remove his ball cap and they checked the inside rim. What did they think he had in there? They checked my bag but I could have easily stashed a flask and neither of us was patted down. It was the weirdest encounter and she was rude when my husband asked why she was doing that.
I had an aisle seat where there was a large empty space. While I was dancing to OPH, the young (20s) man behind me came over and started dancing with me. We were both smiling. Security jumped his butt and made him move away.
I did (sort of) rush towards the stage when JB started NW screaming "omg! omg! Funky! but I think the bigger security guy knew I couldn't climb that fence, but I think he possibly thought about putting me in a 4 point hold and calling the EMTs.![]()
He was kinda cute, so I possibly wouldn't have minded.

Getting out of the lots was.........the same.![]()
So......we had great seats through a lot of luck and I'm so glad I was present to hear NW in Bristow for Funky. Will I go back to JLL? Maybe.......my husband is so done though. Maybe Funky should start a thread to plead a change in the tailgating policy.......or maybe run for Governor.......
I would have LOVED to go to JB! But I have very little vacation days a year (10) and I'm going to Key West and using 6 of them and 2 for my son's wedding. That leaves 2 for an emergency trip to St. Somewhere if we have a bunch of snow this winter or Jazz Fest in the spring. Gotta pace myself! But a definite next year!sistergoldenhair wrote:Hey Linnie!
