I've had front row center seats a few times. Once I was offered $1000 each for the pair.
I seriously considered the offer but ultimately turned it down because I decided I'd rather use the tickets.
The same thing happened when I had two great lower box seats to Cal Ripken's record breaking 2131 game.
I was offered plenty by friends and strangers for those two seats, but I turned them down and went to the game instead.

But had I decided to accept the offers, who are you to judge me with your Singapore Cane?

Even if I had that kind of money to spend foolishly, I wouldn't. But it's none of my business how other people choose to spend their money. If someone thinks going to a concert is worth 8 large, more power to them.

Here's my theory on those truly ridiculous aftermarket prices. These guys don't have the tickets in hand yet, so they set a price pretty much no one is going to bite on, but it puts the seat out there as available. In the next few weeks those tickets will drop to a more normal aftermarket price, which is still more than I would pay for the front row.

I sat in the front row once. I bought the ticket 20 hours before the show for $40 over face. Worth every penny.

I have had front row for many different shows. I am spoiled, I do not like and will not sit in back of a theater unless I have no other options or its a show I really want to see. And usually than it has to be a show I really want to see. If I am not in the 1st 15 rows for a concert I will usually simply refuse to go. Been to many concerts in my life, missed many too. If I do not go its not the end of the world.

I have had front or second row center for every show I have been to & I been to a lot of shows.. , and like my paw RIP used to say, if you can still count its not a lot...

I have never once paid more than $335 dollars for a seat, and that was 2011 Vegas, when they filmed the Video.. You just gotta use the psychological Billy Club, on the person selling. aka, wait till they are at the tipping point of either making a sale NOW for a small profit, or risking it and taking a total loss. Then chat em up and tell em then how great they are and you are gonna recommend em to all your friends (yeah right) .. And then see how long they never come down on price.... Drops faster than my ex gf's shorts when she was around someone with money.

Hence ex GF ,

Now Im go drink lotsa carrot juice with my baby pirate

Because I am a NICE guy.... I will do you one better...... I will deliver the ticket for free via USPS. So if you want that ticket you can knock $15.00 off..... But the Service Fee will have to stick. I mean people do have to recoup their loss somehow.

Quite frankly, too little information.  What show?  Who's the seller?  What's the website?

On the other hand, I see where a pair of what had been Bernie Madoff's tickets for the Mets opening day game sold on eBay for $7500 — http://money.cnn.com/2009/04/12/news/ma ... /index.htm — and some baseball pitcher in Detroit thinks he's worth $200 million over seven years, so who am I to criticize someone who thinks he can get eight grand to go see Bubba?

Ok here is the missing info , 1 it's the Cincinnati show on a Tuesday in July, 2 the seller is some a@@ on ticketnot work .. Lol just go to a website like seat geek and look for yourself ..
3. I don't care who the seller is , what I can tell you is that the people who can afford that . Won't , cause they didn't get rich making horrible financial decisions.

Oh and reference Bernie Madoff... His crap was bought because people thought It had a hybrid. The dude who bought his 1931 Rolex for 40k. Found out it was not all original from 1931, and that it was actually worth 15k on today's market with the new face . It's the greed that gets em ..

Regularly supporting the secondary ticket market
up to but not over $335 per ticket is acceptable
but anything over that is worth a Singapore caning.

Got it.
It's good to know where the line in the sand is defined.

$5,000 bottles of wine fly off the shelf at the right places. Try bottle service at Aria, $2,000 a bottle and you can't get a seat.

There is a person for every price. Will this guy get his money? I doubt it but someone will pony up serious money for these seats.

Being offered a high price for something and taking advantage of the offer seems very different from actively "charging" a high price.

I thought scalping was illegal. How do these sites get away with it?

State to state the laws vary. when I was "on the dark side" I lived in California, the law there is so many feet from the
Box office of the Venue. not from the venue. or the venue grounds but from the Box office itself.
local laws can lengthen distance.

been a scalper, been a scalpee, even been one of those guys that stands in front of the Stage and faces the crowd.

it depends on who it is, who I am going with and what I can afford. in Boise the market is not so tough for tickets
I got third row center stage for Kenny Chesney for like $180 each a couple of years back.
I got second row for Jason Mraz (SP?) with G-Love opening for like $50, didn't really look for the Jimmy show here
I had tix I saw some in the $3000 range early. didn't follow through. I also saw some great seats for George Straight
that were going for $600-$800 guess I am lucky (in some ways) to live here

When I finally got to my first (and so far only) Buffett concert at Alpine back in 2009 I had a lawn ticket in hand but was able to get a ticket under the pavilion from someone during the pre-show party in the parking lot for a C-note (face was $133).  It was a ways back from the stage but I was still closer than the lawn people and out of the weather to boot, so I think I still got the better end of the deal.

I think the key word here is patience.  Unless you're someone like the rappers at an NBA game who demand courtside seats because they're there to be seen, not necessarily see the game, it seems that you can find whatever you want at a favorable price.  Resellers are all too well aware that those tickets are going to be worthless the next morning so even taking a little loss is better than no sale at all.
