Thanks he mentioned that to me, after I posted this. But one never knows if someone is trying to sell tickets. Figured I would help someone out first, that is unloading.

Re: Who's Going to Detroit (Comerica Park) July 20th??
I guess we have tix. Weren't that interested since the experience ONCE was fun but I totally prefer the Knob. Friends snagged tix for us row 26. Kinda feeling ho-hum about it. Would rather go to Greatwoods to meet a bunch of BN peeps but probably not in the cards this year.
I am sure we will be more excited as the day grows closer but I really prefer the smaller venue and closer knit parking lot at our old school place. Even when he played the Palace we at least had one parking lot which made it a bit easier. Anyone else there in 2001 when we were goofing around in the snow in Feb? Good times, good times....

Oooo ooooh I was there for the palace show we had seats to the side and behind the stage and it was so cool to watch the preparations and stuff going on. It was a great show. lol tailgaters in the snow. we weren't quite that brave but did walk around the parking lot.
that said, we're still thinking about finding some non stadium show to attend this year.

Paint fumes must be getting to you Mel. Must be talking about February 1998 because the '01 show was in November (MY FIRST). It was damn chilly at the '01 show though 30's to 40.PetalMel wrote:I guess we have tix. Weren't that interested since the experience ONCE was fun but I totally prefer the Knob. Wow tons of tickets left for this show! Not good for the future if this doesnt sell out, might get us back to the 3 year plan and for sure no more big shows.(which im sure plenty will welcome)
I pulled up 8 tickets together in section AA (front left stage) in row 8.
The upper cheap seats are closer to sold out but still plenty available.

I can probably give you some advice but need to know where you want to stay?? downtown detroit or the suburbs?? If you have a passport and a driver Windsor will be cheaper than Detroit downtown and closer than the suburbs. Dont want to drive drunk thru the border crossing though.caly wrote:any suggestions for a place to stay that is not an arm and a leg?

The Detroit Parrothead Club will most likely have a hotel set up where you can get a discounted rate for the weekend, have a shuttle to and from the venue, and they usually have a preparty the night before and bloody mary breakfast thing the day after. We did that last year and it worked out great. The venue was about 15 miles from Comerica so away from the scariness of the city. You can google them to find their website and you may be able to get more info closer to the date. For an out of towner it may be a great way to hang out with phriends for the weekend without having to worry about getting around town.
Friends of ours reserved us a room in Greektown when they first heard rumors of the concert date. Expensive but since we have never done a weekend in the city we figured it may be fun. Still toying with the idea of road tripping to Greatwoods instead, though. However, like someone said, with tons of tickets being still available, we may end up being stuck with the ones we have and end up just staying here.
As sad as it is to say, I do hope that Buffett sees this as a disappointment and goes back to Pine Knob next year....

greektown, the book cady will be walkable but real expensive. Motor city is nice but not walkable (well it is but you wont want to walk that at night drunk) it would be a real short cab ride. Those are the only ones I would suggest downtown and you will pay for it.
The Ren Cen is nice but you will pay more there than anywhere else and it maybe sold out already.
Like I said, the windsor casino is your best bet for a "downtown" hotel. Even though you have to cross back over the border it will be closer than the suburb hotels and cheaper than the Detroit side of the river casinos. They may have a shuttle, should call and ask.
The suburbs are going to be alot cheaper and safer than the rest of the Detroit hotels but you're looking at a minimum 1/2 hour drive to any that are good.
Pick any hotel with a good tripadvisor rating that is north of 10 mile if the city is east of I-75. Anything north of 6mile if its west of i-275. Finally pick a city that is north of 696 if its a city between 275 and 75

Was the condo I posted earlier booked? It would definitely sleep six.
And seriously- try Priceline, just don't go below however many stars they give the Book Cadillac or Greektown- the casino hotels are the only ones down there that are nice, so those will be the ones you get if you get anything.
