Hey fellow Buffett fans! We have a boat reserved to charter for our tailgating experience along Lake Michigan. We have 6, possibly 8 seats left and I thought I'd post here to see if anyone is interested. We have the boat from 3-6 pm. It is going to drop us off at Burns Harbor, which is directly next to Northerly Island and at the time that the gates will open! It is $100/person for a chartered boat with a grill and margarita maker on board, bathroom, Buffett tunes, a captain a one crew member. did I mention that it's a double decker boat with a water slide??? Who's in? I think I will post this on the main board as well to get more people as I can to see it. This is legit, we are totally normal people, Buffett fans from Chicago. We are so excited of this venue right on the lake in our beautiful city and being on a boat to pre-party sounds perfect! We plan to go to Navy Pier prior to boarding the boat, then heading over to the boat for ride. Come on, you know you will be sitting on land and looking at the boaters and getting jealous! By the way, the water taxi tickets are sold out! So, think of this as your own water taxi! If interested, let me know and I will send you the link we set up payment and we will meet you on the boat!

WHOA!
Was that a shot?
I think that was a shot.
:-? :-? :-?
Oh hell no! Would never take a shot at you! (and not too many other people either, for that matter!)

Just my attempt at humor, due to the quantity of people that this would attract, and obviously did if it sold out already! :D

Out of curiosity, is this the www.tikipartyboat.com boat? If so, I can give a high recommendation! My friends and I went out on it on Wednesday, and it was a lovely cruise!

Yes it is! I am so bummed bc this is the perfect way to tailgate. don't you think? We had the boat filled but when it comes down to the wire, people have been backing out bc of the price. Honestly, I don't think it is going cost a lot more than the water taxi (now sold out), and the food/drinks at Margaritaville. I'm sure they are not going to be letting people bring their own coolers (or my cordless margaritaville margarita maker) into the party on the south lawn. The option of tailgating at 31st St. doesn't appeal to us either. We are kicking ourselves that we sold our boat a few years ago bc this is the perfect opportunity!

I had people bail the day before ours, but for good reasons.

I truly think it would be a wonderful way to tailgate... out on the water, away from the masses! The crew we had was great... if you get Captain Mark and his son Courtney, tell them JoAnn says hello! It was a wee bit chilly on Wednesday evening, so we didn't try the slide at all... but we cruised the harbor, went up the river and back, and then over by Navy Pier for a front water seat for the fireworks.

I had no inkling to attend this show, but now that it's go time, I'm Jonesing big time! We have alternate plans for Saturday, otherwise I'd be venturing down into the madness on the pier for sure just to see all y'all! One still never knows... stranger things have happened! :D

Being away from the masses completely negates the point of tailgating for Buffett. The best part is getting the party on w/ fellow parrotheads!

Also, Blackhawks victory parade Friday? Should be a great weekend in Chicago!

That would be Burnham Harbor, not Burns Harbor, and yes, that is right next to Northerly Island. I've got charter customers that day, and I think I will be dropping them off at the same place. I know the guys from Tiki Boat, you'll have a fun time.

I thought I had a charter customer for the evening (anchoring in Lake Michigan for the concert) but it fell through. So if anyone wants to charter Phenix, the information is at http://www.PhenixSailing.com

Friday is available too, for a warmup for the weekend.

Awesome video! I can't wait till Saturday! I had sent Charter One a message asking if they had any pictures of how the construction was going and they said no. But you have video! :-) I have always wanted to charter a boat for a booze cruise! Not going to do it for Saturday but I will keep you in mind for the future!

Whoa Nelly! I must be getting old. I can't believe people paid $50 for those lawn seats, and it sold out... if they put up 'grandstands' or bleachers, the stage won't be visible at all. It looks to me like it will be more of a listening experience similar to Ravinia, for which I think $25 would have been a much fairer price.

It is cool with the city backdrop and lake to the right, but not that cool, in my opinion.

Thanks for sharing! It reassures that I made the right decision on skipping this one. But I do know those that do go will still have a helluva time! :D

I've got seats in those little stands. Should have a nice view of the stage and the city. I hope!
I think we may want to hang out on the beach right near there. Have asked Chicago Parks dept. about restrictions on concert days.

Last year at Alpine, we stayed at the top of the hill and we could not see the stage since it seemed so far away. It was more fun to just enjoy the music and the people around us. I figured it would look like this so all will be good. :D

Who cares if you can't see the stage? I can see pictures and video of Jimmy et al anytime... But I can't get the feel of a live Jimmy show whenever I want! The experience of the whole day is why I go, and why I will continue to go until he retires in 20 years... Looking forward to this weekend!

I got a laugh imagining a boat full of passengers dropped off at Burns Harbor. :)

Did you hear the one about me being a punk?
Did you hear the one about me being a drunk?
Did you hear the one about me losing my nerve?
Or how I'm just another f**** sheep in the herd?
Did you hear the one about me giving a s***?
Cause if I ever did I don't remember it.
