I laugh because two weeks ago no one cared about tailgating downtown and the logistics, all that mattered was that it was downtown. Now, everybody's concerned about it, where to go, what time, and the city hasn't even given out the details yet. Talk about putting the cart in front of the horse. At least at Tinley, the whole issue was resolved and understood (somewhat) BEFORE tickets went on sale. And yes, the city will ticket and tow any and all vehicles that impede traffic flow (I have family that are cops for the city, it has been done before). It seems that the "shoot first, ask questions later" seems to apply. The reason tents are not allowed, is that if there's an emergency, the tents don't get in the way of the responding to the call. It's a city thing. Just like at the Sox games, you could put your tent up in the grass area, but not in the rest of the lot.

Well, now that it is for sure downtown, the next logical topic of discussion is tailgating details... Is that really that strange of a development in the conversation?

I have seen a few things about using grassy areas to set up tents. Does anyone have any more information on these grassy areas?

Woah, take it easy w/the tailgating talk. Rimpala doesn't like it when we jump the gun about this stuff. I think we need to wait until he green-lights that discussion topic. For now we are only allowed to talk about buying tickets and April showers.

Ready... Go

Booked a room.
Congress Plaza Hotel on Michigan Ave.
Queen room, $323.00 for two nights. Not bad at all for downtown Chicago.
1.6 miles to the venue, according to MapQuest.

That was silly... Why does nobody use Priceline? $180 for 2 nights @ Courtyard downtown.

Wait... Can we even be having this conversation yet? Did the forum police grant permission?

Buffett Yacht Party for Chicago show!

We've chartered a yacht for the Jimmy Buffett concert at Northerly Island on June 29th! Here's the details:
Date: Saturday June 29, 2013

Where: Yacht is located at Burnham Harbor
It has outside decks/inside decks with TV and leather couches, bathroom, and area for food buffet and bar

What: 5 hours on yacht, open bar including beer, wine, margaritas, soda and water
food buffet, anchor by Northerly island to hear concert, (please note, we will be anchored for a while in order to get spot in this area, since it will be super packed with boats, so not a lot of "cruising", fireworks after, and this includes all taxes crew fees and gratuity

Price: $260 (a pavilion seat is $160, plus parking and tailgating food and drink and drinks inside, makes this a great deal!!)
Check out the yacht: http://www.windycitycruise.com

Yacht holds 49 people, we have space for about 20 people left.

DEADLINE: May 1, 2013 - We must receive your cash or check in the amount of $260

If interested please contact me at keywestjunkie74@yahoo.com

Thanks,
Jennifer

Where will you be planning on being anchored at? Are you going to be anywhere NEAR the venue, or are just planning on it? Also what sort of beer/booze will be served? Are you talking top shelf or just your basic house bar crap?

Don't you think that tone is a bit over the top for someone extending a hand to the rest of us?
If you want to pay the money and join them, go for it. If not, then don't.
There's no need to be condescending toward somebody you don't know.

I just like to know what I am paying for. "Volcano Express" has offered stuff like this before and "promised" a lot and didn't live up to their "promise". Its nice to know your getting Absolute or Grey Goose instead of a no name label.

I understand that, Matt, but this lady isn't Volcano Express. She's an individual inviting us to join her and merely asking us to help her cover the costs of such a gathering. Since none of us have ever met her, let's give her the benefit of the doubt and assume she's on the up & up.
As I said, you can either pay the price she's asking, or not.
She apparently wants to have a good time like the rest of us, and is only asking if we want to join her.
Whatever food/drink she provides is going to cost her. She just asked us to help her out, that's all.
If you're unable to join herbfor whatever reason, I'm sure she'd understand.
Either way, we all want anyone who attends the concert to have a good time, right?
:D

Being described w/ your own name is never a compliment... More like a secret code for "that guy is an intolerable a-hole".
