Saw Zac Brown there 3 years ago... what a magnificent backdrop.

Deal with it, people. Or, better, yet- just don't go so there'll be more tickets for those of us that really WANT to be there!

Can't agree with you more!! Wish we had a show every year .. Bubba has been to Cleveland 3 times in the last nine years, all on a Tuesday night. If we want our fix we have to drive HOURS to see him which we will be doing when we come to CHICAGO for the 3rd year in a row .... so for all of you Chicagoans that are whining about getting a Saturday night show, do those of us who DO want to attend a favor.... DON'T BUY TICKETS!! That will give those of us that WANT to see him a chance to get tickets.

Re: Northerly Island, Chicago
This show is just very inconvenient for anyone outside the city. Enjoy trying to drive to the show for those talking about it because parking is horrendous and can cost up to $60 for a spot anywhere close to Soldier Field (not Charter One). Plus, most Buffett fans would need to take the Metra (they live in the Burbs, not Lincoln Park) which means there is going to be a HUGE mad dash to get to the train lines after the show as you don't want to miss the 12:40am train out of the city (assuming he ends prior to 10:30pm) since that is the last train and gets you home closer to 2:00am.
It just seems he is ending an era of great Chicago tailgating in favor of a scenic venue. I don't know about most people but I don't go for the skyline as I can see that any weekend of the year. I go for the amazing atmosphere, spending a great day with friends and hearing some good music. Instead, we are going to get ripped off and cut short of the full Buffett experience.

It's a Sat. show (the night folks everywhere want for their show). It's in Chicago, so for folks from Winnetka to South Bend, it's a freakin' local show. and there is mass-transit. short of him showing up in your backyard and grilling brats for you (which he probably would do if you paid him enough), you got it pretty good.

It's the white sox, they have more trouble selling out a half price night against a top tier team than selling out a summer afternoon game against a division rival. Shouldn't be a problem what so ever

First, people were bitching and moaning because it took so long for the show to be announced. Now that it's been announced they're bitching and moaning about the venue. The Chicago area gets a show every year, sometimes 2 shows. There are a lot of people who never get a local show and have to deal with a lot more inconvenient things than the cost of parking or the train schedule if they want to see a Buffett concert. Get a freakin' grip.

Hokie is right. It's obvious that some of you have never been to a Bears game because you have no idea how it works there. You just don't drive right up LSD, pop out of the car and say here we are. All I say is be prepared. Also, if you need scenery, go there anytime, take pictures, but being at that venue does not make the show any more special. So what people are saying, that one of the longstanding traditions before any show is to tailgate, and they will forefit that tradition to see a skyscraper in the background amazes me. People, the Metra stops working late at night. The red, blue, orange keeps on because it's the CTA!!!!

so, park at O'Hare, and ride the Blue; park at Midway and ride the Orange; park at 95th and ride the Red. (transfer where you have to.) or here is an idea: head in early, and beat the traffic. adapt, overcome, survive.

Yeah try that and tell me how that works. Those who do not live and are not FROM CHICAGO, please don't think its all that easy. It will be one big Cluster you know what. Getting to O'Hare is a hassle in its own way. Plus riding the CTA at night..... Sure go for it. Please do. And please tell your family not to contact lawmakers when you are shot at or killed at night. Park at 95th street? LMFAO. Sure go for it. See if you car is still there when you get back. There is NOTHING good going to come out of this. Oh yeah, and the RED LINE is probably going to be shut down this summer due to work on the tracks. Please Please PLEASE those out of towners.... go for this, and witness it. Please don't be thinking its the easy way to go. They will be looking for you. Those who do not know about any of this... If you get WGN please watch the 9pm news everynight. IT IS NOT SAFE. I repeat THIS IS NOT SAFE. Once again IT IS NOT SAFE. I don't wanna sound like a jerk, which most of you probably think I am already, Its not a safe option at all. If you please.... go ahead spend more money than you should on a hotel downtown.... Let me know, I can give you numbers to call where I know people who work at them where I can get my Chicago Kickback, pay the outrageous price, call a cab, and get to the show right before it starts because there will be no tailgating. After the show try and find a cab to take you back to your hotel room.
I still think this is NOT a good idea being at this venue. I for one value my life more, and with ILLINOIS being a state where there are NO CONCEALED CARRY laws.... Sorry, just won't go for it. Can't trust people there at all. And this is coming from someone who has lived in the city for over 35 years.

i for one am very excited or the venue (and i live in Tinley Park 5 minutes from where he usually plays). I thought that the sound quality at Toyota was horrible (although the last year he played that the impromput acapella version of Tin Cup Chalice sounded pretty cool.
) I plan to stay the night in the city, have some margaritas at margaritaville, take a water taxi and walk to northerly island. I've heard of some people chartering boats as well. the backdrop of the city, on an island and boats nearby, couldn't get more "Buffett-like" in my opinion!

I prefer Tinley. I am only about 15 minutes from there, but I know all the ins and outs of the area. A whole heck of a lot safer there than in the city.

Re: Northerly Island, Chicago
Let me get this right, anyone who lives south of I55 should drive to at least Midway to get a train, are you kidding me? If you drove 3/4 of the way just keep going! I love howpeople say "...all you have to do is...."or"..just do this and you'll be fine...", answer, nope. Let's be realistic folks. If you live in or relitively near the city this is like the heaven, for those who don't, it's short of a nightmare. As stated eariler, no one needs to get really bent out of shape, just some people who don't and can't just do "this and that" are irritated just for the sake of a downtown show are venting. I for one love him, we've gone to the CIP's, Margarittaville's here, Jamaica, Vegas, Phoenix, bought memorabellia and stuff, but cutting off your nose inspite of your face doesn't make sense. I have a feeling the city fleeced them into the decision to have it despite all ithe issues. They promised them that everything wil be fine, just peachy, don't worry.the city of Chicago is like a bad used car salesman, they'll say anything just to get your business and conduct it they way they wnt to anyway. Look, the people at Margarittaville don't know a whole lot about all the cities, so they rely on what the towns and people that have been there in the staff have said, and they make their decisions from there. Since there have been so many problems according to so many, I guess they had to look somewhere else. In my personal oppinion, it was a bad move just for the sake of being at the lakefront.
