I saw ZBB last year, and the one thing that surprised me was how the whole band was showcased throughout the show. I liked his music a lot even before I saw the band live.

When I saw Steve Earle last year everyone in his band got a turn at the mic. His wife, Allison Moorer, is an artist in her own right as are Chris Masterson and and his wife Eleanor Whitmore, so it only made sense. There was no opening act per se, Allison was just in the spotlight a bit longer than the others. Robert Plant did a similar thing when he toured with Alison Krauss which would make sense since the tour was billed as The Raising Sand Revue.

Now that we're on page 3, who the hell is Mishka and what does he have to do with Jimmy that would have spawned this? This thread is the first I've even heard the name.

Watching this clip and reading this article from Spinner should help explain:
When you think Jimmy Buffett, images of rum drinks, beaches and sunsets immediately fill your head. Well, now you can add a bit of reggae to those lounge-worthy thoughts with Mailboat Records' newest signee, Mishka.

The two actually met long ago, when Mishka was only 5 years old. The little tike was selling croissants in the French West Indies when he came upon the Margaritaville man himself. The acoustic-leaning songwriter even wrote a song about Mishka called "Chanson Pour Les Petis Enfants."

Now the musicians' relationship has come full circle on Mishka's new EP Ocean Is My Potion. The title track features Buffett and the Bermuda-born singer's velvety vocals.

Now you can check out an exclusive conversation between the up-and-coming reggae artist and his musical mentor in the video below. The pair discuss how they met, and even play their new single! Check out the video below, and grab Mishka's new record in stores now.

According to Mishka's Facebook page, Mishka will be opening up for JB in Chicago on June 29. Thought this would happen on 1st leg of tour. Happy that it's happening on 2nd leg. Going to stick with my first prediction: At some point in the show, Buffett will play "Chanson Pour Les Petit Enfants" and will play "Ocean Is My Potion" with Mishka. Those two songs are just my predictions. I don't know it for a fact.

Fins Up!
