The new tour starts Saturday in Nashville. I've heard from an inside source--all right, who am I kidding? I looked it up on the Internet--that there is a very good chance that Mishka will be appearing with JB in some capacity on the tour, either opening or performing with him. What's the evidence, you ask? Well, like Sam Spade, like Philip Marlowe, like freakin' Doc Ford, man, I've determined that Mishka will be playing at the Nashville Margaritaville on April 27 at 3 PM, which leaves him plenty of time to get to the show. Mishka is playing in Atlanta on April 29. JB is playing Atlanta on the 30. Mishka is playing Frisco, TX, where I hear everything's bigger, by the way, on May 3. JB is playing Frisco on May 4. I know that Jackson Brown is playing some dates with JB early on the tour, but I expect Mishka to be either opening or performing a couple of tunes with JB. That makes "The Ocean Is My Potion" and "Chanson Pour Les Petits Enfants" locks for this tour. Remember that you read it here first, and, if it's on the internet, it must be true.

Poor Ilo, all but forgotten about. And then there's Matt Hoggatt, never even got to go on a full tour with Jimmy.

Seems like some folks aren't too keen on Buffett sharing the bill with others, even if it means co-headlining with Jackson Browne.

I have no problem with artist sharing the bill with jimmy. I hope mishka plays with him. I was just wondering whatever happened to Ilo. I enjoyed seeing him live multiple times. I thought for sure Matt hoggatt would have done more shows to help promote his album.

I enjoyed Ilo very much, got his CD and love most of those tunes as well. Would love to see Mishka open. Jackson Brown would be okay for a few tunes but I'm not interested in spending my time or money to see him "co-headline" with Jimmy. If I wanted to see Jackson Browne I would go buy Jackson Browne tickets.
As far as Matt Hoggatt, I have zero desire to see or hear him. Jimmy handled that whole thing very graciously but I simply don't see his appeal. No thanks.

I wouldn't mind seeing Mishka do an Ilo-like set to open the shows every now and then. And while I like the duet he and Buffett did, once the tour starts it just gives Buffett an excuse to pat himself on the back again and say another one of his "good friends" called and asked him to sing on their record. Another non-Buffett song added to the setlist.
If Matt Hoggatt had written a song called "Dear Anybody But Jimmy Buffett," nobody other than his family and friends would have ever heard of him. If it's true he won a song writing contest with that song, I would hate to hear what the losing entries sounded like. Like Nancy, I have zero interest in seeing him.

I thought the same thing when I heard "dear jimmy buffett" was the "winning" song. It's not a good song, let alone a contest winning song. I thought it was cute the first time I heard it, but didn't even include it or Jimmy's response when I downloaded the Alabama show. I think jimmy realized it too by not including him on the lounging at the lagoon tour. Plus if I'm not mistaking, "hotter then fish grease" isn't even a studio album. Isn't it live? I've enjoyed Ilo and will probably by mishka's cd, I can't say the same for Matt Hoggatt.

I haven't picked up Mishka's new record yet, but he's supposed to be playing at the Nashville Margaritaville Friday night so I'll probably get it there if they have it for sale. I saw him at Joe's Pub in NYC last year and thought he was really good.

The Lemon Bar on Main in Frisco near the stadium. It's walking distance from Comfort Suites.
Thanks for info.
(I guess I should have said: That is where Mishka is playing the night before the Frisco show.)

I would like to him play with Buffett. Hope he comes up here. He has played The Wellfleet beachcomber in the past so who knows??
As far as Matt is concerned, it was great he got that experience. However, I have to agree, the song was just okay and I'm really sick of the song now. He hasn't shown me much.

Oops! OOTL! I didn't miss this show at Dell Diamond in Round Rock where Mishka appeared with Zac Brown Band in April 2011!!
I also hope Mishka joins JB at Frisco and it'll be fun to catch him the night before.

I imagine there's some Jackson Browne fans that may share that same sentiment towards Buffett. Personally, I would love to see an entire Buffett/Browne tour. I've seen lots of co-headliner tours over the years from Dylan/Santana to Paul Simon/Dylan. I don't recall anyone complaining as you got complete headline length sets from both artists. I call it getting more bang for your buck though I'm sure there were people there that came for one particular artist. For me, it was Dylan but it helped that I'm also a Santana and Paul Simon fan.

I also predict that Jimmy won't play "Dallas" one of his oldest, least played songs. It hasn't been played much since the 70s.

LOL, those Jackson Browne fans need not worry, I doubt we'll see Jimmy become the remora on any of his shows.
And I don't necessarily mind a shared bill, I could probably think of several artists I would love to see "co-headline" with Jimmy...Jackson Browne isn't one of them, although as previously noted 3-5 tunes would be just fine for this gal.

I personally wouldn't mind seeing a jimmy buffett/bob seger double bill.....now that would be epic! I could just see the coral reefers jamming with the silver bullet band. Just imagine the show would close with a medley of night moves and why don't we get drunk and screw. I'm getting excited just thinking about the possibilities this tour would bring.....I guess a guy can dream (sigh).

I don't mind Jackson Browne doing a few shows with Buffett. I've only seen Jackson once, back in 1996 (I had to go flip through my ticket stubs to make sure of the year), but I've always liked his music.

I enjoyed his set when he toured with Steve earle a few years ago. Way to political for my taste though....but that was mostly Steve.

I've also seen Jackson Browne a few times, although that was years (decades) ago...no problem with the man or his music, I just don't necessarily want or need it as part of my Buffett experience.
Jimmy can, of course, do whatever he wants, whether that be showcasing new talent or giving old friends an opportunity for some exposure.
