If Jimmy did some one-off shows where he focused on lesser-played material from his catalog I would hope he'd have the whole band there with him. Sure, I'd go see him perform solo but the obscure songs I want to hear would sound better with the band backing him up.

No need to call me "teach" or to accuse me of being a "tight ass" or to resort to name calling. I would just think if you truly wanted to get your point across, the best way to do so would have been to be upfront about what you really meant, that way there's no question. Surely, it's not too much to suggest that Buffett break from the norm and do a theatre sized tour, even if for a few select dates, where he could dig a bit deeper into the treasure chest than he does in his regular concerts. If something like this were ever to materialize, I've love to see it include Coral Reefers past and present as well as special guests such as Fingers, Jerry Jeff, Todd Snider, Jesse Winchester, Bruce Cockburn, James Taylor, members of the Iguanas, the Neville Brothers and Evangeline, etc. Fellow artists who've played a significant role in influencing Buffett and/or folks with whom he's collaborated over the years.
