and a cold beer ..... with my toes in the sand, Gulf view
Sitting at one of the stools at BO's Fishwagon. oh my
Yes.....YES......YES !!!
I had my first grouper sandwich at Marina Jacks in Sarasota- grilled not fried, but AWESOME! I get the feeling that the fish/grouper sandwich in Florida is as sacred as barbeque in Texas and Gumbo in New Orleans. I had a grouper sandwich almost everyday after that, but none of them were as good as the first one. Please do tell, where are the good ones hiding? Grilled, fried or deep fried? Best beer with your grouper? Is a fish sandwich a down grade from a grouper sandwich?

Fried, definitely fried. (I suspect "fried" is actually deep fried)
As for the beer ...... cold, draft. A pilsner or other lager works for me.
Thank you! Appreciate the local expertise OK, the other question was about toppings and sauce- what's the best? We don't have anything like this in Cali... We have all kinds of other stuff, but nothing like this

Well, my "local" expertise is only as a frequent visitor.
I don't know about "best" topping ..... I just go the simple route with some tartar sauce. Maybe a little lettuce and tomato. Enough to complement the fish but not overpower it.
A fish sandwich is just a fish sandwich. But a good grouper sandwich is ...... Nirvana!

'My' weekend was good, thanks Very laid back, worked around the house, made hubby take me out to Hooter's last night, had my hot wings and fried grouper sandwich, couple of pitchers of beer....oh and bought the 2007 calendar and had the girls sign it for him.
Not necessarily grouper related, but in that same geographical area is a place called Caddy's on the Beach.
In Sunset Beach (at the south end of Treasure Island) and it really is ON the beach. They have picnic tables in the sand (as well as indoor seating).
Bring your beach gear and hang out for the day! Decent food, full bar and sometimes some pretty good scenery.

If you Google, "Caddy's on the Beach," and the click on "Images," I think that pretty good scenery magically appears THANK YOU!!

You mean they have pictures of things other than the Gulf Coast sunsets?

Well, last time I went, they did. However, I don't know if that is still the case. Since moving to Chicago area, I haven't frequented Hooter's like I used to. I found a different place to get my 'wings' fix up here.

I went to Hooters for lunch today. I don't eat fish but after seeing this thread this morning I checked the menu. They have a fish sandwich but it doesn't say what kind of fish, just a Big Fish Sandwich. But one of the girls in the North Myrtle Beach Hooters is in the calendar and she was working today, Lindsay. It probably would have been a good idea to move away from the door before taking the picture. Garry, she was at the signing they had back in December so she signed your calendar. She's one of the May girls.
