There's a rumor floating around the Boot Key Harbor cruisers net that Eric Stone has signed a lease to open our favorite Dockside Bar & Grill in October when the seawall repairs are completed. Any one know if this is true ? I am hoping so. When I got to the keys in 2002 Dockside was a blast ! Lots of fun times, great locals, great local bands. When it was sold (due to owner divorce) an ogre took over and ran all the locals and cruisers out. Since then several incarnations have attempted to bring it back without success. The latest attempt was by a nice couple who put a lot of time and money in it only to have to pull out when the seawall fell in. Now the owners are in the (slow) process of rebuilding the sea wall and the question floats around pretty regularly "When is Dockside going to open again ?".

I found out referring to the "dockside" bar in Florida is like referring to the "ice house" in Texas. There's a bunch of them.

The rumor is apparently true. Eric has apparently got everything signed, and is currently working on getting it open by sometime in October.

He's got a crowdfunding campaign going on, if anybody's interested in not quite owning part of a bar in the Keys:

Kim and I are re-opening Dockside in Marathon Florida and creating a very cool music venue/bar/restaurant called Dockside Tropical Cafe' with a focus on cruisers.
