Parking for large vehicles in the South Lot was apparently made available and publicly known just 3 days before the show on 6/26 which is why you had RV's in that lot. This was just one of many problematic late in the game changes made by this venue

A make up show at a later time seems to be in order here. Either get this venue squared away and replay the show later in the year or find a new venue. Anyone who purchased lawn seats should be able to use them for the make up concert.

Complaints are definitely numerous about this hot mess of show last night, hell even the Sirius/XM Radio Margaritaville feed was dog poop last night.

Check some reports from concert goers over on Yelp

The lawn last night was a total joke, but the mud wasn't even an issue to me compared to the fact that there was zero visibility of the stage from the lawn. I'm 6 feet tall and I could barely see the top of the cymbal stands on the drum riser if I stook on my tip-toes.

The result: $50 a head to stand in a manure-smelling swamp, watching the show on video screens while belligerent drunks (not even fun drunks) pushed their way through the marsh looking for a better spot.

I'm all for making the best of a bad situation, but conditions on the lawn were so bad that I couldn't find a way to have a good time, and I saw a lot of that going on. Morale was pitiful.

Compared to last night's joke of a venue I see nothing wrong with Tinley or Toyota.

I was at Alpine in 2009 when it started to rain just about the time Jimmy took the stage.  Summerlover has got that right.  In dry conditions the grassy area forms a natural amphitheater, but at night, when it's wet (and people are not exactly 100% sober), it becomes a huge slip-and-slide.

And yes, it is entertaining – so long as you are not the person doing the slipping and sliding.

I typed "Northerly Island" into a Google search and guess what?  This is the former Meigs Field site that Mayor Richard M. Daley had coveted since 1994, and under the guise of "Homeland Security" (and despite a prior agreement to keep the airfield open until at least 2006) single-handedly destroyed in March of 2003 by sending bulldozers onto the field in the middle of the night to carve trenches and huge X-shaped gouges into what had been the runway of an active airport ... incidentally trapping over a dozen planes on the ground there at the time (they later received special FAA approval to use the taxiway to leave the scene of the crime).

Here's what the area looked like prior to — and after — March 30, 2003.  Note the planes stranded on the tarmac to the left of the destroyed runway in the 2nd picture.

I'm surprised Jimmy, being the aviation enthusiast that he is, would even agree to perform there given what sort of underhanded chicanery went on to create the venue.

I'm guessing it was in with the "who's going to ....." series of threads, and since I wasn't going never would have noticed it.  My apologies if I'm inadvertently plowing the same ground here.

I can't even describe it...it wasn't like "bad weather" lawn. It was 6 inches of mud that you sank down into with every step. Lawn chairs wouldn't have stood a chance.

I don't know..maybe I'm just an over 40 victim of fate and it's time I start buying pavilion seats instead of fun, new flip flops for the show. [smilie=battingeyes.gif]
So "Knee Deep" being played last night took on a whole new meaning? Sorry, couldn't resist.
To the matter at hand............sounds like a no-brainer.....SOMEONE needs to make amends. Jimmy can b**** out Live Nation but ultimately has no power over making amends for this show. I would say the Venue or promoter HAS to do it. Sounds like the bottom line problem was new sod wasn't ready to go in time for the show & the weather exposed the fact. Other complaints about lack of amenities, parking fiascos, etc. are IMO bugs that need to be worked out.....but it your really sinking into 6 inches of mud..... [smilie=thumbdown.gif] No way this should be happening. It wasn't a frickin' Woodstock environment being advertised. it was an amphitheatre setting. And much more was deserved by the lawn people!

Jimmy rewrote the words to "Morris' Nightmare" to exploit the problems Carnival Cruise lines had earlier this year. Maybe it is time to re-write it again with lyrics pertaining to this debacle. It could be called "Chicago's Nightmare". I was disappointed he didn't play it last night but maybe he knew there were huge problems afoot that were NOT funny to his fans.

It all comes down a money....and even if JB were made aware of the poor lawn conditions, do you think he's going to give 2 s*hits?
What I would suggest is someone (not me, don't have a horse in this race) spend some time looking up emails and phone numbers of the mgmt for both the promoter, the Parks Dept for Chicago, and whoever else should be held accountable and publish them here. The people will be bombarded with emails, etc and if nothing else, you'll at least make their life a little miserable for a while. Who knows, maybe refunds will be provided,,,,,

Make the best of whatever came his way

Don't know all the intricacies of how his "take' is calculated, but there are far fewer reserved seats at this venue than at the other two Chicago sites, and I would think that would translate into less dollars from that.

The sod only made a bad situation worse.

The kicker for me is the sound (which I suppose can be corrected) and the view to the stage. With the lawn slope, you can't SEE the stage. That's insanity.

Just awful all the way around.
