Not 100% yet, Kate.
But I have to be prepared. I can't wait until the last minute to submit my vacation time. Especially in December. I can always cancel it later if I have to.
But if my mother spends that month with my sister in Green Bay like she's contemplating, I'm most likey a "GO."

oahufish wrote:Was down at JB's today and found out show will be Dec 14th. Hopefully date will officially be released soon. Last show in March 2012, there was very little lead time before concert was announced and a pretty meager showing of Parrot Heads from mainland. The shows and Pre concert tailgate Party are always much much better with the more seasoned Phlock.
It's early but we're working on putting together a Preconcert tailgate event again this year which hopefully will include a couple of the Coral Reefers and also working on bringing out Jim Morris. If we can work with a local Travel Agency here and put together a Room, Transfer, Show Ticket package would that be helpful to folks? If you have any questions about Waikiki or anything about Hawaii in General please feel free to contact us at pauhanaparrothd@aol.com or check out our FB page Pau Hana Parrotheads We've lived here 20 years and will try to help out the best we can.
Aloha and Finz Up!!!
I am down for whatever is planned. I can always use some tips for a Weeks stay in HI. Ill be a first timer to the island and I really want to experiece all it has to offer! Im looking at booking the 9-16th.

I submitted my vacation dates from Dec. 10th-20th, but will not book a flight until a date is announced.
Jimmy REALLY needs to not do another Alpine to us and give us a date NOW.

I can't really book anything official just yet. I see the surgeon the end of Oct for my hopeful return to work date. So I'm sort of waiting on that. Ill probably go ahead and find a free cancellation hotel though and book it anyway :) Just hoping flights stay status quo for now. its like $850 round trip from BOS right now, few weeks ago it was like $1100

I just checked airfare and the cheapest flight I found was $820 but it has 2 connections and one of them is 16 hours 43 minutes. :o I checked some other airports and if I want to drive 185 miles each way to Charlotte, it's under $600. I'll have to think.

It's anywhere between $785.00 & $793.00 out of Des Moines (United)
I can go to United's web site and pay $8.99 to have them hold that fare for me for a week. Which I may do.
Fly out of Des Moines on Dec. 11th, fly back from Honolulu on the 19th.
With my luck I'll book the fare and the damn concert will be on the 20th.

Could you leave a day early? $820.00 is cheaper than most places on the East Coast.
I'm going to have to pay just under $800.00 from the Midwest.

We're really thinking it's going to the the 14th Gary, already booked rooms down in Waikiki and booked Jim's airfare. Our club has a friend of a friend of a friend who works closely with the Buffett tour and he notified us of the 14th date several weeks ago. Later another contact with some inside info confirmed the same date. So we went down to the restaurant and talked to the Sales Manager and Surf Museum Curator who both personally know Jimmy and surf with him...and they as well confirmed that the day of the show is in fact the 14th. Hope it all pans out that way, otherwise we'll be bringing Jim Morris in one expensive House Concert!!!

Also if anyone is interested, we're looking at booking at block of rooms at the Park Shore, right across the street from the Shell and Beach. It's a stumble across the street to the concert or just minutes walk to everything else in Waikiki, clean, recently remodeled and moderately priced. Trying to put together a package for some folks from South Florida, but if anyone else is interested in reserving a room, we should be able to get a good group discount. Please email us at pauhanaparrothd@aol.com if you'd like to be on the list and we'll let you know more once we have a price locked in.

Either way, I'm due for a trip back there. It was my home from 1978 to 1989. (Lived in Hawi on the Big Island for the first 8 months, then Oahu the rest of the time). I had been planning on a February trip out there, then Jimmy mentions he's going to be playing the Waikiki Shell in December and that changed everything. I do hope you're right about the 14th. I talked to Doyle Grisham at Alpine and he seemed to think it would be the "week of" December 12th, so the 14th would be perfect.
I'll either be staying with friends in St. Louis Heights or Mariner's Ridge, both very close to the Shell.
So one way or another it seems like I'll be showing up.

Look forward to seeing you again Gary...I think we stumbled across each other last year briefly late one night at MOTM.
We've been hitting Waikiki pretty hard the past week looking for a venue for our Pre Concert Party. Have used the Elks in the past, but unfortunately someone had to schedule a Wedding on the 14th...who get's Married in December??? Anyway work working at trying to put together a party at one of the Hotel Lanai's and get some special Parrot Head rates. Hopefully it all works out, because I just paid for Jim Morris's airfare on Tuesday!!!

Sounds right to me...its a 6 hr time difference. Remember if you don't get the seat you want, your local club President can always put in a request to PHiP for club seats. We don't have a huge group here and there are quite a few available. As a matter of fact last year only a small portion of the club seats were used and the rest went back to the promoter. Actually those requests can be put in right now!!!

At least it's the week after the marathon. I should be able to walk again by then! :D

I'll have to check into the club seats. Close ones go really fast at the shell.
