Well.... I finally got to listen to the album all the way through, and... I'm not disappointed. :D

Few thoughts...

I really liked the album title from the first moment I heard it. I love it when things tie to the past.

As for the album content though.... started hearing track titles and thought oh %$. This is not going to be good...
And yes, there are a couple of definite clunkers. I could go decades without hearing "I'm No Russian" again. Also not a big fan of "Earl's Dead -Cadillac for Sale" and even "Einstein Was a Surfer" although there are a couple of clever lyrics in there.

Gotta say though, I LOVE several of the tracks...

"Somethin' 'Bout A Boat" sounds like something you'd play around a beach campfire.
"Serpentine" is surprisingly good and is about Mardi Gras (honestly tho, the title is awful.)
"Soulfully" is just one I really like.
"The Rocket That Grandpa Rode" is really cool. Interesting tune and instrumentation and the back story is awesome.

I even really like "Too Drunk to Karaoke." It's just stupid fun.

And the best track is.... "Oldest Surfer on the Beach" I swear I saw my future flash before my eyes.... 8)

So... Thanks Jimmy. Keep on playing. :pirate:

I really like it too.
Don't forget "Tides". That's a great song too.
As the album title suggests, it's quite tropical. Even got some pans on a few tracks.

It seems Jimmy listened to Bruce Dickinson.

I like the album. I would give this 3.5 stars out of 5. I like every song on the album except "I'm No Russian," which I think is a hot mess. "Einstein Was a Surfer" and "Rue de la Guitar" are already two of my favorite Buffett songs. "Somethin' 'Bout a Boat" and "Oldest Surfer on the Beach" are classic Buffett songs; I only wish that he had written them. I even like "Earl's Dead--Cadillac for Sale," a song I wasn't sure about at first. I think "Earl" captures the quirkiness of South Florida and it reminds me of a Hiaasen story. The only thing the song is missing is a sun tanned politician with a fettish for alligators. I think that there are a couple of tunes on which JB is reaching for notes, such as "Soulfully" and "I Wave Bye Bye." Overall, I like the album, and it's my favorite in some time.

I haven't listened yet, but bear in mind that most of the songs you list as "likes" were not written by Jimmy.
