Fans that like every single thing an artist does aren't actually fans, those folks are sheep.
A certain percentage of people are always disappointed with something everyone else seems to like. It's a contrarian syndrome that seems to flourish of fan boards of all kinds. I don't take it as a personal affront that JB won't play an obscure song he recorded in 1975 and hasn't played since 1988 but that's just the sheep in me I guess.

I don't consider Buffett playing a rarity or the desire to hear him do so, "contrarian". Nor is it taken as a "personal affront" if he doesn't do so. In fact, he even does it every so often. It's part of the passion that goes along with being not only a Buffett fan but a fan of music in general. Personally, I've never been the type of fan that likes every single thing an artist does without question and gets offended when someone offers up constructive criticism in that regard.

while I haven't been to a concert, and I only know the Yellow Album stuff... I was looking forward to hearing one particular song this year. Then.. the second leg of this year's tour dropped it. instead, it was full of "meh" songs from the new album (and "Too Drunk to Karaoke" S U K XXX) First time in a while that I questioned why I spent any time after 2002 even wearing a groove in my copy of SYKBH
