FWIW, my iPhone Tunein App as well as Radio Marg's Flash & HTML5 players on my Win 7 IE 11 laptop are working fine.

I think XM has been well aware of those alternative methods for as long as they've existed, nothing to do with talk here.

Welcome to BN, ebourlet. :)

When my hair's full gray

Like I've said before, I'm not a Sirius/XM subscriber. RM is coming through loud and clear on flash, HTML5, iTunes and Tunein on my computer. The only thing that doesn't work is the Tunein app on my phone.

Nothing on my computer either. Can't do HTML5 or Flash Player - I have Windows 8. The "player" screen comes up, but no sound.

Same problem here. Not in iTunes, not in TuneIn, not via Margaritaville.com.

I've pinged Margaritaville people about this, but so far I still get the Error accessing stream or file messages — multiple devices on multiple platforms.

Maybe they should pay more attention to the comments on their Facebook page.

It's a roll of the dice.

I'm pretty sure that when the people at Limelight changed the server configuration and eliminated the old Windows Media Player feed last fall, they somehow didn't leave enough server capacity to handle all the potential RM listeners. It's the only explanation that matches up with lots of people complaining that they can't get the feed paired with the occasional "WOOHOO I got the feed!" person. If you get on right at that moment when there's excess server overhead available, you're golden. If you can't get ahead of that wave, you're stuck back in the lineup watching other people have fun. I got it to work briefly last night, for the first time in ages. It's not working for me today — not in iTunes, or the website, or the TuneIn app.

I'm going to end up starting an online SiriusXM subscription just to get around Limelight.

I had an interesting experience last night with a fellow parrothead having RM feed issues, after checking all of the Pop Up and firewall possibilities and still not getting anything I decided to delete the cookies for RM and then revisit RM's online feeds and BINGO they both worked. I also deleted the cookies for TuneIn and that stream now works for my friend as well

Maybe this fix will work for others

I don't know what to say as I have no connection problem via either the html 5 or flash feed or tune in for that matter. The only issue I had was the WMP feed did not like either WMP 11 or 12 so I used the flash stream exclusively. I have Comcast High Speed internet so I know I have more then enough internet speed for the connection. I do have AdBlock on my browser and have it bypassed for RM so there is no issue there, I have also made sure my firewalls were not blocking RM.

I have both IE and Google Chrome on my computer and the streams work fine in both

I would have to wonder if your local ISP is throttling down the connection speeds on their end of things thus the connection is not fast enough for RM to connect to. I remember when RM first went online back in 1999 they had feeds for both fast and slow internet connections which also created poor audio quality for the slow speed users.

There is clearly an issue somewhere along the line and if it is not at the user end then it is either on RM's end which is not likely since some people can connect with no problems. So I have to wonder if certain ISP's are restricting access for bandwidth reasons or some other issues.

At this point I am out of ideas on this one

Charter is definitely not throttling anything. I watch a lot of movies on Amazon Prime, and even non-HD video takes up much more bandwidth than RM's dinky little Shoutcast stream. (Just fired up season 1 episode 1 of BBC's Primeval to confirm that still works.)

This is why I feel it's a lack of server overhead issue: Sometimes people can get on, sometimes they can't. It's a craps shoot as to whether they do or not. I have more success logging in at 1:30 a.m. EST, when server load is lower because most of the U.S. east coast is asleep, than I do during the daytime.

Regarding the "some people can get it, some can't" thing ... I can get it at night at work. Our work Internet connection is routed through the home office in Iowa. So that could be a thing, too — maybe Limelight changed the RM stream's numerical IP address and it's not propogating through DNS servers in a big hurry, so possibly those folks whose Internet providers have updated DNS can find it while the rest of use can't. But propogation should only take a few days (when some Russian company tried to burn down a board I help run, I figured it took us about four days to get everybody seeing the new forum server after we moved it).

All interesting stuff that I am not sure I get but RM is working today.
My friend has mobile something for her iPad and couldn't hook up the other day either to RM. I have to have her check today. I will report tomorrow.

I do have high speed internet and never had any other streaming issues (movies) before when RM wasn't working.

I DO hope that silence is gone for good. I was hoping some of the other's would post that they were able to get RM.

I signed up for the free 30 days of SiriusXM online while I wait for RM to finish sorting itself.

But I may just keep SXM and stop worrying about it.

Remember when it was just so easy to play through Winamp, and not have any real problems except for the dead air RM would air during concerts....

just tried it, and it finally works again with no problem

Whatever server updates that had to be done seem to be done.

Also, I just discovered that that SiriusXM Internet feed is about 1 song behind the actual RM Internet feed. :-?

I had sent an email to Kirsten and got this response today:

"We should be back up and running now. Please let me know if not. One of our Limelight servers went down. It took us a while to figure out what the heck was going on because so many people (including us) still had service. I hope you’re back up and running. "

I just checked and it is now working for me.
