We all know Jimmy doesn't really give a crap but maybe if management thinks they'll lose money they'll think twice.
Hey, it worked for our "Nautical Wheelers at Bristow 2013 Petition"

Doesn't cost anything but a little time and who knows?

Goddess forbid that GW doesn't happen but wouldn't it be funny if we all showed up in the parking lot and had the most awesome tailgate ever w/out any concert??? And with live music at our tailgate!!! That would be wicked awesome.
There WILL be beach and Goombay Smashes at the Beachcomber and there WILL be an evening beach bonfire for anyone who wants to come! I feel pretty sure we'll still be doing that based on everyone's feelings on FB
Can I just say that with last year's number for the bonfire, we were at the limit!! If more peeps come, then I don't know how we will pull that off. Just say'n

True enough, we'd need all THREE permits that they give out!! I'm not sure we'll have MORE this year anyway. If we do get more then you better bring the fire pit down to the house!

I have never loved a sport's team more than the 2004 Red Sox. After the 2003 ALCS when Aaron Boone crushed Red Sox nation in game 7 and the following off season when NYY signed ARod and the Sox obtained Curt Schilling and Keith Foulke I was beyond psyched for 2004 baseball. Then the announcement came that Jimmy was playing Fenway. Every endorphin in my brain was released. Because of friend's in really low places I got a front row seat for the Friday show. Jimmy did a skit where he broke the course of the bambino and he handed me his sandal before his encore which I have framed. It was an amazing experience and the fact the Red Sox came back from 3 games down to beat NYY in the ALCS and then go on to sweep the Cardinals for the World Series made it legendary. Perfect. Life was perfect. Almost 10 years later and I am still a die hard Parrot Head and Red Sox fan but no where near as extreme as 2004. There is no way that this year will compare to 2004 if Jimmy does go back. Not that it has to or anything but my vote is for GW. If it is Fenway then, at best, I will play it by ear.
Fenway 2004 was an incredible experience. This was before they figured out that field ticket holders should wear wristbands. At intermission I was near the walkover talking to a friend. Intermission was coming to a close and about eight people in a group were walking past the one ticket checker. On total impulse, I walked in like I knew what I was doing, keeping those eight between me and the attendant, then I just kept moving. Not stupid enough to try and get into the front section where they check your tickets again, I watched the rest of the show from the front row of the second section back. Awesome! I agree with DP, there's no way this year could match 2004.....

GW is 19,900 tickets, Fenway for a concert is around 35K. With no tailgating and ticket prices starting north of $100 there is very little chance he come close to selling out Fenway so why even bother. The sad reality is these days people to go Buffett shows for the tailgating not for his music. Fenway is a terrible place for a concert as most of us learned in 2004.
Totally on dawgs accurate, my friend. What I will never understand is that Jimmy sold 130,000 tickets at Gillette Stadium for two shows and then could barely sell 40,000 in 2008 and 2009 at the two Great Woods shows those years, barely sold 30,000 combined for the two Great Woods shows in 2010, and then went down to one show at Great Woods in 2011 which is struggles to sell out. Seems like a massive decline in sales for no apparent reason. Tickets prices remained relatively consistent in cost over that span of time. I digress. I still think Jimmy puts on a decent show. He hasn't totally jumped the shark (see what I did there?) yet. But, yes, the draw is the tailgate for most people without question. I'm glad he is still doing it but Jimmy, being the smart guy that he is, must realize that people want a tailgate . . . and Great Woods is legendary for it. Since it's money on the pile anyways, Jimmy, just give us what we want. Or play Wellfleet. On the beach. By the Comber. Up to you.
What my two GW buddies said......

Hello? Is this thing on? JIMMY BUFFETT, ARE YOU LISTENING?
WE LOVED FENWAY IN 2004. IT WAS EPIC. BUT THE SOUND IS HORRID AND IT'S NOT A MUSIC VENUE. AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, THERE'S NOWHERE TO TAILGATE.
WE WANT TO SEE YOU AT GREAT WOODS, IN A MUSIC VENUE!!

Lets start a separate thread against Fenway! That way if JB happens to skim through this he doesn't need to find it in the middle of 125 pages of who's going to Great Woods! - Ill start it now

I'm guessing if the rumor is there, someone must be in the know, I'm guessing the date is already locked up. Haven't heard from my Fenway source's nephew yet , they had a death in the family yesterday.....the sad thing is, I don't think Jimmy cares what we think as far as venues , because he knows 90% of us will go..I'd probably go , because other shows may not work into my schedule ( like Jones Beach, which usually falls on a Thursday)...yes, it would be more costly , Hotels are more expensive in Boston, Parking Cost are high , and more importantly no tailgating, which would mean high bar tabs!!

I think if it were locked up, it would have leaked. People can't keep a secret! Whether or not JB cares, for every one of us who doesn't want a Fenway show, there's probably one who does. I don't really think the tailgate plays into it (unfortunately). JB plays plenty of venues where there's no tailgating. It's a business; it'll come down to who offers more. Besides, JB was pretty stoked about playing Fenway the first time, why wouldn't he want to do it again?

I'm just saying the rumor had to come from somewhere, and with some credibility, it's been 10 years, and Fenway rumors haven't come up. I'm wondering if it's a xfinity conflict of interest, and policies. I hope it's a false rumor , but Jimmy is full of surprises.

I think that's why it makes me so antsy.. we haven't had another venue rumor in 10 years.. Like you said, yeah I don't like it, and I'd probably go, but it won't be the same and ill miss my friends.

Kinda doubt it as this wasn't a sale. Same owners just a different name.

I think it's corporate greed and and the possibility of harvesting new parrotheads since tickets will be available when someone like me chooses not to go into Fenway.

There was Gillette Stadium 7 years ago.

At least Gillette had tailgating. The sound in the Venue sucked... but we still had the party.

from the 1st & 2nd row , sound was not a issue for either show, farther back , yes it is......traffic was the bigger problem!!!....I was lucky enough to have a room a the End Zone for the 1st show , the 2nd show I went on a bus....I wasn't going to deal with the traffic.
