Re: VEGAS
Man we are two weeks late compared to when the dates were announced last year. I already have a room booked but was hoping to capitalize of some summer sales airlines are running. Hopefully we get the dates soon.

I was wondering about that too. According to Margaritaville.com (in the archived news), the concert was announced May 9th last year.seminoledq wrote:Man we are two weeks late compared to when the dates were announced last year. Re: VEGAS
We (me and Margaritaville were both wrong). I just went through the thread from last year and it looks like dean_siu posted on April 23rd that the dates were confirmed in Vegas. For some reason I thought it was the first week in April.ParrotHead67 wrote:I was wondering about that too. You're right from what I recall because some of us questioned Dean where he got his information from since it wasn't announced yet. So it was booked April 23rd but not made public until May 9th. I'm with you, the sooner they announce it the better for everyone involved. Today would be a great day to announce it (if you're reading this Jimmy

^^I'm hoping for some pool weather too. Last year, second show, was cold on Friday and Sunday but mid 70s for the pool party on Saturday.

Alright, it's time. Make the announcement. We are all pretty confident in the dates but we need that parrot head confirmation so we can celebrate.

Re: VEGAS
I just got an email from the MGM that there is a pre-season Lakers game at the arena on Friday October 24th. Last year the second show was preceded by Kanye West on Friday night. Hopefully this means they will solidify their October schedule very soon.

Re: VEGAS
The (S)eagles have Saturday the 11th booked @ MGM. So we won't get surprised w/an earlier date. But where's the announcement? I don't want to book a hotel room, & find there's only one show this year on the week I'm not there!

I'm seeing MGM room rate spikes for October 25... with no announcements as of yet, that seems interesting

I sure hope the rate spike means an announcement is forthcoming. I've seen 5 Vegas shows and am looking forward to another one. Please...

Re: VEGAS
I'm guessing that the rates that weekend are affected by the Life is Beautiful Festival which is in town that weekend (and was concurrent with a Buffett weekend last year as well).zydecoldsmobile wrote:I'm seeing MGM room rate spikes for October 25... with no announcements as of yet, that seems interesting
Artists for that should be announced soon which will bump rates even higher all over town.
If you're looking to go the second weekend, I'd make reservations soon. Do them directly with the hotel so you can cancel if we get any surprises with concerts.

Re: VEGAS
Some of you may have heard about Rock in Rio happening in Vegas next May. In case you haven't, here's a link with some details.

Since hearing this announcement, I've wondered if MGM's relationship with Jimmy might lead to him being a part of the lineup.
I haven't heard any official (or unofficial) rumors of this nature, but I'm wondering if they may look at doing only one show this fall if the May festival is a possibility.
Everything has been real quiet regarding shows this fall at the MGM and just makes one wonder if something may be in the works.

I don't really see JB being a part of the Rock in Rio lineup. I know he did Bonnaroo five years ago but that wasn't with the whole band and it was more promotional for Ilo Ferreira. He also does Jazz Fest in New Orleans on occasion but he has a long history there. I could be completely wrong, but both JB and Parrotheads are used to him being the headliner and rarely sharing the stage with other acts, then again, if the money is there...
On a different note, I could definitely see him playing the new arena that's going in between New York, New York and Monte Carlo in the next couple of years. That's also an MGM venture and will be bigger than the Grand Garden Arena.
It's a new month, and a new week!!! Whatever type of announcement is coming about Vegas this year, perhaps it will come this week.

Re: VEGAS
I have woken the past couple days with a different opinion. This concert should have been announced at least a month ago and still no word or even a rumour. In his interview with the Houston Chronical, he admits he's touring less saying only about 20 concerts this year. I believe he has announced 20 dates on this tour already. I am starting to lean towards the fact that he isn't coming to Vegas this year which means no west coast dates. Can anyone logically tell me different? I hope so. I booked the Flamingo a month ago.

Re: VEGAS
Logically, I can't tell you any different. Then again, logically, I just don't see JB skipping Vegas. I mentioned in an earlier post, the first year I went to Vegas to see him, the tickets did not go on sale until August for an October show. I can't recall when the show was announced, but it probably wasn't much earlier than when the tickets went on sale. I wouldn't start leaning in any direction. I know we all want to know so we can book our flights, etc...flights from DC for October just went up $85 a couple of weeks ago so I would have definitely preferred an earlier announcement.ParrotHead67 wrote:I have woken the past couple days with a different opinion. Re: VEGAS
Yea flights are the big thing. I have a room booked at the MGM but can cancel without penalty. I had to pass up a sweet sale from Frontier a couple weeks ago but if I see another deal I may just buy it and we'll have a Vegas weekend planned. If Jimmy wants to joins us he's welcome to but we'll be there partying hard regardless.

Re: VEGAS
We now have hotel reservations and flights booked for the weekend of Oct. 18th. I'm with those above, I'll be there either way, just would be nice if Jimmy joined us. There are worse problems to have then getting "stuck" with a weekend in Vegas, even if it's w/o a Buffett concert. Although he is coming to Cleveland later this month... never thought I'd see the year Cleveland gets a show and Vegas doesn't!
Good times and riches and son of a bitches, I've seen more than I can recall
