I'm all for hearing Buffett sing "real American" (hulk hogans theme song). I could even see Jimmy "hulking up" :)

Yep jimmy covers rick derringer :)
Kenny Chesney comes out and hits Buffett with a guitar. Buffett is down. Chesney grabs the mic. But the crowd gets their Fins Up! Mac starts playing Real American. Buffett hulks up. Crowd goes wild. Charleston flings Chesney off the stage. Buffett and Mac duet of Derringer's classic. It almost writes itself.
Can they do the "cupping their ear" to see what section of the crowd is the loudest too? I can hear it now "whatcha gonna do brother when 30,000 Parrot Heads and the power of Margaritaville runs wild on YOU!"

Jimmy is actually at my place right strategizing his "heel" turn. I told him to say "No Parrot Head parties like a Great Woods Parrot Head . . ." when he is in Cinci. That should cause quite the stir. It will be like when Hulk Hogan joined the NWO.

In my mind all that makes sense.

aren't you rushing a heel turn? I just don't think its necessary to form the MWO (Margaritaville World Order) just yet. Haven't you ever heard of a slow build. We need the Mayer Brothers to jump ship and head over to Zac Browns Band first and explain to the audience their taking over and challenge the ZBB to a fight at the hershey show. It is there that Jimmy runs out to save Zac Brown and then hit him with with his guitar thus turning him heel with the Mayer Brothers.

But then the lights go off, The Undertaker's music starts playing, and a tall, lanky looking fellow comes out from the shadows. You can cut the tension in the arena with a knife. Then the mystery man throws off his robe and it's Alan Jackson who starts playing his cover of Margaritaville (and he shouts the last word if each line and ad libs lines that don't rhyme).

But, Jimmy, Summertime Blues last night made my dog's head explode. Twice.

Worst cover ever?

I still love ya, Jimmy. But when my friends ask me "why?" it is becoming more difficult to answer.
I agree. I saw my first Buffett show in about 1985. I've seen him every year since, save for two years. One year he didn't come where I lived. The other year, before Al Gore invented the internet, tickets went on sale without me hearing about it. I'm really struggling with Buffett these days: the blatant commercialism, the set lists that are one third covers. I always said that I would do this as long as Jimmy did. That's not the question any longer. The question is when do I want to retire from this. $139 for a bunch of cover songs; that's not a lot of bang for your bucks.

Yeah we pretty much scripted Jimmy's entire 2014 tour leading up to hershey. After Saturdays show we realized he needed some creative help. :). Hershey is now going to be Epic!

Then we need the powers that be to "ban" Jimmy from the tour. Only to have a guy wearing a mask named "Marvin Gardens" come out and finish the tour, while only playing songs from albums pre-1980.

Kind of like Junk Yard Dog and Stagger Lee.

I too watched too much wrestling as a kid.

For the Welcome to Fin Land tour, Buffett opened with The Wino and I Know. For me, there is no comparison between Wino and Summertime Blues. Open with an old JB song any day of the week. When I'm paying $140 times 2 to see JB and he plays all of these covers, I feel like I'm throwing money away. I go to a Buffett show to hear Buffett, a novel idea. Into the Mystic is a baffling song choice, and I'm a ZBB fan. He could have played West Nashville Grand Ballroom Gown, The Death of an Unpopular Poet, Stories We Could Tell, Incommunicado, or Livingston Saturday Night. For me, any of those songs would have made the concert special. Summertime Blues or Into the Mystic makes me feel as though 1/27 of my money just got flushed down the drain.

PS Buffett would not hit Alan Jackson in the head with a guitar. That's not realistic at all. He would have Mac do it.

That is true. However, it is meant to serve as a metaphor for what I see Jimmy doing to country music. So, in that regard, Mac's just acting as his yes-man.

I agree with mostly everyone...

Radio mville is doing a this ones for me weekend. Taking requests that fans want to hear jimmy play on the tour. I hope jimmy takes that into account.

I was hoping for two songs never played live ever - cliches and brand new country star

Looking back to Saturday he really only played 3 "covers" though he didn't write others, he still has recorded many of them... The only ones he hasn't is summertime blues, little Martha, and free. It is frustrating because he has so MANY awesome songs. I mean he is one of the best American song writers of all time. The big 10 make the tourists first timers and non Buffett fans happy - those 16-18 songs should be for his phans. Also, I was looking forward to actually hearing captain Jim's drunken dream. I have no problem with relevant covers but I agree, play Jimmy music
