I never thought I would hear a cover song worse than Glory Days or Tripping Billies.

But, Jimmy, Summertime Blues last night made my dog's head explode. Twice.

Worst cover ever?

I still love ya, Jimmy. But when my friends ask me "why?" it is becoming more difficult to answer.

Summertime Blues v. Glory Days v. Tripping Billies is like asking if you'd rather be shot, stabbed or hung.

It got the crowd pumped up to start the show and it wasn't Hot, Hot, Hot.

So it had that going for it.

As I said last night, I didn't like that song the FIRST time it came out, I sure didn't need to hear it as the opening song.

In all seriousness, did it? The crowd sounded pumped - I agree. But Jimmy could walk out on stage and read The Catcher in the Rye cover to cover or knit a scarf and people would still go nuts. I would.

Considering that everyone has been drinking all day it's not hard to get people pumped up at the beginning. Hell I was really looking forward to it and about 5 songs in I was "WTH??"

Out of all the covers last night - that was my favorite lol

Love free/into the mystic it was our wedding song but only ZBB does that song justice.

I was pretty harsh on the set list last night and looking at it again it wasn't too bad- pretty standard. I'm happy that all night long is gone.

I've said this before but I just hope he doesn't cover Zbb songs in Hershey the night before Zbb plays. That would just be dumb. I realize Alan J will be included. Obviously on 5 o clock and summertime blues

Fins up everyone! Happy Memorial Day weekend! Cheers

I agree with Janice!
But Summertime Blues is soooooo much better than that awful Billies song.

I'm a fairly new fan (since about 2004) but I personally would like to see no covers. I would love to hear only JB songs! So many that we new fans have never heard in concert, looks like we never will.

Part of me gets Jimmy's intent. The fact that he chooses to play new (unique) songs every year (just the fact that he plays every year - nobody does that) is pretty cool. It shows that he is still trying on some level. I just wish those new songs would be Jimmy Buffett songs. That being said he can replace Cheeseburger in Paradise with anything and I mean anything and I would be happy: "Wind Beneath My Wings" . . . "Ice Ice Baby" . . . Hulk Hogan's theme song . . . "Oh Danny Boy" whatever have you.

I'm all for hearing Buffett sing "real American" (hulk hogans theme song). I could even see Jimmy "hulking up" :)

Kenny Chesney comes out and hits Buffett with a guitar. Buffett is down. Chesney grabs the mic. But the crowd gets their Fins Up! Mac starts playing Real American. Buffett hulks up. Crowd goes wild. Charleston flings Chesney off the stage. Buffett and Mac duet of Derringer's classic. It almost writes itself.
