"Margaritaville" last night...

Post by PeretHed66 »

...on The Tonight Show, was, I thought, the freshest and best version I have heard in years. To my ears, much truer to the original laid back style of the original recording then the party anthem as played today; I suspect this can be attributed to the way ?uestlove and the rest of the Roots played, I thought with a more relaxed tempo and style. Your mileage may vary, but two big thumbs up from me.

Should also mention that I also loved the flute on "Volcano", seemed to bring back some of the 'woop-wap' island sound. Nice.

Always liked the slower pace of the originals - especially Jolly Mon. Now they seem amped up just to get a crowd going. [smilie=battingeyes.gif]
