Not sure if I already posted this. My brain is working so well lately. If not, then one of the last Cheeseburger in Paradise restaurants left in the country just closed.

The sterling heights store has been closed for about a month now and is being remodeled into what looks like a Mini margaritaville but I dont believe it is a licensed one.

The one in Myrtle Beach is still open but not because it gets a lot of help from me. In the almost 2 years since I moved here I've been there once.

That was always a stop on the way out of town the day after a Detroit show. We will miss it!

Thanx for the info, MSU.

Though I never visited this location, I'll always remember it as the location that proved definitively that Jimmy is saying "muenster" and not "mustard" in the CiP song. Thanks, Marty! [smilie=coolup.gif]

We stopped at the CiP in Lahaina, Maui back in August
for a Longboard beer or two.
I'm not sure of the entire story, but this is one
that established the name before Jimmy fully
protected it and after a few legal battles
they are able to remain Cheese Burger in Paradise
and unaffiliated with Meglaritamart, Inc.

amazing that it's managed to last this long. when the ones in OH and IND started to go, it was a bad sign.

Yeah, Sterling Heights didn't have quite the same ambiance.

Thanx for the pics, SP - I'd heard about the place for a long time but can't recall ever seeing it. (Someday I will...)

We've been there once, it was nice. Not only do they have that location, they have a few others in Hawaii and had one in Las Vegas (not sure if that's still there). I have to admire anybody that can defeat Jimmy's lawyers. 8)

Aw man...... Just looked at the list of locations still in operation. Didn't realize the one in Kansas City had closed. We stopped there pretty much every time we went thru.

Actually, we stopped there just last spring and our exchange student from Norway (who is gluten intolerant) was SO EXCITED to find out they had a gluten-free bun available. I'd never seen a cheeseburger make a kid smile that big before. :D

The trips thru Kansas City won't be the same... [smilie=eye.gif]
