Meant to post this yesterday, but 40 years ago, on 12/3/74, JB released what I think is his best, "A1A". The whole album is great, but Side 2 (for those who remember albums), is the singular best summation of the man's work and legacy - it's just ridiculous how good it is, what a lineup of songs...
Side 2
"A Pirate Looks at Forty" (Jimmy Buffett) 3:57
"Migration" (Jimmy Buffett) 4:13
"Trying to Reason with Hurricane Season" (Jimmy Buffett) 4:21
"Nautical Wheelers" (Jimmy Buffett) 3:35
"Tin Cup Chalice" (Jimmy Buffett) 3:38
19+ minutes of greatness in 5 songs.

Def. a very strong argument there!
Though, white coat and living dying 3/4 are amazing pieces of work as well. There is not a bad track on either of those. I would also argue what came after A1A are also amazing albums. In my Parrothead opinion, it is clearly Jimmy's best work. I do enjoy his other records and sound as well but nothing beats JB in the 70's.
Livingston's gone to Texas? His best underrated song. That song is a gem.

Agree wholeheartedly regarding JB in the '70's. This playlist I made a while ago "Early Days" is probably the #1 played on the iPod.FinsUp6835 wrote:Def. a very strong argument there!

Maybe I'll make a new post and tell the story. First heard JB 40 years ago last January in the Keys, another good story.lime rickie wrote:Whoa.Crazy Navy Flyer wrote:I'm coming up on the 40th anniversary of my first JB tailgate in January. Time flies.
