The only thing for sure about CJ attending the lube this year, is nothing is for sure.

Possibly, but doubtful, if not for certain

So *that's* what it's called. I think DC101 was giving away tickets last week. I'm surprised I didn't hear anything from Jeff about it.

With the holiday Monday and a snow day Tuesday, I completely missed those. Had two lines on hold Wednesday and no luck Thursday and Friday. But, it's still early.

So who's actually going?

Lubers....what's the deal with "premier parking"? My wife and daughter and I made our first trip to JLL for last year's show (recent transplants to Virginia). Believing the company line that the parking lots would open 2 hours ahead of doors opening, we didn't get there until 4:30-ish. And of course we were then parked 10 miles from the front gate....my wife and 8-year-old were not happy with the long hike, especially at the end of the evening.
So just wondering -- is premier parking typically available "day of" at JB shows? Or have I missed my chance by not already buying it? Fins up!

Hello folks:
I was wondering if anyone who has attended the lube could provide some info on the parking lot scene. Depending on where I read for information I see different info.
i am looking for information on the following:
1) What time do the lots actually open?
2) Do they allow canopies and tables to be set up?
3) How is the view from the lawn?
4) How bad is it getting in to the Lube?
With Pittsburgh probably not scheduled this year, a group of us from Rochester NY are looking for an alternative this year.
Any help would be great!
Cheers.

Lot opening times will get announced much closer to the show date. I think last year it was something like 2pm. Premier parking is available for purchase (if it isn't sold out already).
Canopies are not allowed but umbrellas are. Tables are allowed.
The view from the lawn is the same as every other pavilion of this size. You're far away, but you can see the stage. There are large video screens on either side of the stage. The stage photo in my signature below was taken from the lawn at JLL. If you click the photo, it'll take you to a video I took from the low center of the lawn there.
As for getting into the Lube.... that is the sorest subject for me and the reason I have tried to swear off of JLL, although I go back for Buffett. Get there as early as you can. If you show up at 2:00 or 4:00. You'd be fine. If you plan to show up at 6:30 for an 8:00 concert, it is never a safe assumption that you are going to catch the beginning of the show. Traffic on I-66 is unpredictable, but out of anyone's control. The big issue is the traffic in the last mile or so once you get off of the highway and try to get into the venue. For busy shows, they are unable to manage traffic. I have been to multiple concerts there where it took 90 minutes or more to get from the highway to a parking space. It is unacceptable but unpredictable. The good thing about Buffett is that so many people show up so early, so the traffic coming in later is less, but the lots are more full early. For shows where everybody is trying to get there an hour before, they just can't manage the flow of cars. I have missed many opening acts when I thought I'd be more than an hour early.

The last 2 years the announced lot opening time has been 3:30. I'm not sure if they opened earlier than that or not, but they seem pretty strict with their new tailgating policies so I doubt they'd open a lot earlier.

Yep, you're correct. i hadn't actually gone back to look until right now. Lots were at 3:30 and gates were at 6:30 last year.

Do you all realize that we're already on page six and not one person has made an accuation of CHAFF yet! We've gotta do something about that right away.

Oh my.......the group of people going is the best EVER!!!!! They will make the best tailgate possible for this venue........But..........it's a difficult venue to enjoy the "full Jimmy Buffett" experience. Lots open late (for our standards)......Lots themselves are filled with small sharp rocks that you need to walk over. Cars are jammed in so tailgating is difficult. I truly believe that Jimmy's people got June not August to help with the fact you can't have a pop up tent. The traffic going in and out is biblical....not in a good way. So that being said......try to get in as early as possible. If you are staying at a nearby hotel, you may be able to "tailgate" there until you can move to the venue. Just make sure you have a DD.....PWC's finest will be all over. Or rent a limo/bus for delivery/pick up and go and tailgate at a bar in Manassas.
It will be........a different concert experience.....
