Hoping the weather holds. 75 and partly cloudy, but looks like a cold night...low of 58. Hopefully no rain. Wish it was a bit warmer.

No rain would be great :) but we will make it in any kind of weather.

Does anyone know if the Handicap lot is closer than the VIP lot, or are they the same?

Providing all preparation goes as expected, my mom should be making many hundred Jell-O shots. If you happen to run into her in the parking lot with her bag of Jell-O shots, she usually hugs everyone in exchange for the Jell-O shot.

Looking forward to this show, we have not been back to Tinley Park in many years, but decided to skip Detroit this year thinking he would play the ball park again.

What kind of turnout is expected for this?
Tiki Bar wrote:Thank God the tiki torch still shines!

I don't know anything about anything, other than Johnny Russler and the Beach Bum Band playing in Wauconda on Sunday at 5:00pm.

Baffled that the Landshark Beer Garden doesn't have a Buffetty band on Friday night. Miss the days of the Tinley Holiday Inn having a band on Friday night, and a band and pre-party in the parking lot on Saturday.

Also miss the days of having to decide between seeing Nadirah perform in one place on Friday night, and Mac perform in another.

There used to be multiple options for a fun-filled Jimmy Buffett weekend! Those were the days!

I do see this on the Chicago Parrothead Club page:

"Tailgreat Party before the Buffett Concert with Sunny Jim!

11:00 AM - 8:00 PM Jun 27, 2015
(General)
Our Tailgate this year will be offsite at the Forest Preserve of Cook County: Bremen Grove (15967 Oak Park Avenue, Tinley Park, IL. 60477. This is a Forest Preserve party with plenty of parking and a large shelter. Why? Because last year they wouldn't let us in until 3:00.....and that's just not good enough for Jimmy Buffett tailgating!!!

There will be a $15 entrance fee to cover food, permits, our own potties, AND.....

A live performance by 'Sunny Jim' James White all the way up from Florida!

You can bring your own drinks, stay as long as you like, expect games and plenty of food!

This location is literally 4.6 miles from the First Midwest Bank Amphitheater. Anyone not attending the concert is welcome to attend TAILGREAT!

Directions to the venue from Tailgreat:

Turn LEFT out of the Forest Preserve onto Oak Park.

Drive 2.9 miles and turn LEFT on 183rd.

in 0.6 miles bear RIGHT onto Ridgeland

1.1 miles more and you have arrived at the First Midwest Bank Amphitheater!"

But, I am happy to be going to the show on Saturday, and hope to see some of you there! I will not be wearing a tiki bar, so look for the girl in the tropical shirt, unless I wear a Blackhawks shirt instead!

Just bought some OK pavilion @Live Nation for a bit under half of face value. Hate the venue, but couldn't pass up the deal. Now I need to marinade the Jerk Chicken. See you in the parking lot!

I'm not sure. It's for the PHC, so hopefully they get a good turnout!

Went to Tinley many years ago and had a great time tailgating with BNers. Since then I only made it to Pine Knob/DTE a bunch of times and skipped the Comerica Park years. Yesterday I went to the Detroit show at the new venue and had such a great time partying with the BNers that I'm seriously considering driving into Chicago tonight without a ticket and sleeping in my van. Wife's out of town and forecast is for rain all day Saturday in Detroit, dry in Chicago. Makes perfect sense to me, but..............
From reading here it sounds like almost NOTHING is allowed at the 2:00 tailgate? Will it really be that toned down?
My 22 ' extended body long wheelbase Ford Transit may be considered oversize and in addition to a surcharge I may be directed to a "special" lot no where near the tailgate?
Gotta decide on where to tailgate the first half of the day and then DRIVE the van after getting started?
If for what ever reason I end up NOT scoring a ticket I have to leave the lot by 8:00pm?
If everything DOES work out I can't sleep it off with a nap for a few hours after its over but must drive right out?
Can't let anyone know I have a porta potty in the van or I will be busted if the authorities find out?
Appreciate any insight y'all may have on these questions.
Thanks, and for all you old time TPer's out there I was Longboardn' ASEL&S back then.

Good questions!

I don't think you'll have any trouble with a ticket, and most likely discounted.

I have no clue on your truck, an extra fee, or where they route you to... I've only gone to Tinley in a car. I have seen them try to rush everyone out after the show, which is ridiculous, because it's always a traffic jam. Shooing people away from the cars at showtime seems like an impossible endeavor. Some people may not be able to make it inside the show, unfortunately, and others might not have tickets. Can't imagine how they'd attempt to handle that, especially since last time I was there, for One Direction LOL, the workers who directed people to park, terribly I may add, all looked about 16 years old.

Can't even believe the no grills, and rigid rules. I'm not sure how they can police it if 'everyone's doing it', but I guess we'll see.

I hope you take the excellent adventure, and have a great time!

Just spoke with venue by phone, oversize parking is $100!
They weren't sure the length limitation, so she told me anything bigger than a minivan!
Knowing that would be ridiculous so I questioned the nonsense, she finally admitted she didn't know, ans supposedly someone will call me back.
So if 22 feet is ok I still can't get in without a ticket, right? So I'd definitely have to find one at the pre-tailgate rather than at the real deal like I did yesterday. Hah! they just called back.......as clear as mud. "does it fit in a regular parking space" As the owner of a Sprinter for six years prior to this Transit the real answer to that is..."it depends on the spot! I fit in metered street spots most of the time within the painted lines but not always, and usually never in a parking lot size space. parked at the perimeter and backed in overhanging the grass always. So still clueless, sure wish they had a number.
How does the resale ticket market at pre-tail gates look as of now? Will I find something? (just looking for lawn)

ok just read your post sounds like ticket should be easy...but must get it pretty early if I want to drive from there to the place and get in around opening at 2:00. I still remember seeing your bar from TP back in the days of Big Jimmy, ejr, mceichen, etc. I won a beer at his wheel! No sand this year though.

Ok slept at the I-80 Oasis 15 minutes East of the venue and already brushed my teeth. Getting some more ice and heading in to town. Looking good! Anyone got a lead on a ticket for me? Any tips on the best tailgate? Thanks!

At Odyssey Sports Bar. Band is playing Marley and other stuff. Real percussionist. No MIDI. Free parking and all. Not bad! Anybody else ? I'm open to other tailgates too if anybody knows of a good one.

Forget the sports bar. You have to park your car and can't even sit inside it. Have to go in gate . Can't bring anything in. Where should I go?

any reports from Tinley? How was it? Was it sold out or were there empty seats and lawn?

Tons of excess tix being given away or sold at deep discount at the pre tailgates at the hotels. Most were just thrown away. Plenty of empty seats and room on the lawn. Same as Detroit.
