Good morning. I have a dentist appointment Friday morning. The dentist's office just called, well not the office because that's an inanimate object without the ability to dial a phone or speak but someone from the office, to confirm the appointment. My dentist back on LI never did that.

Good morning everyone whose names I can't keep straight...except that there may or may not be someone not named Ethel....
I'm staring a couple of deadlines straight in the face today, so I probably ought to get some actual work done today.
I promised the kids ice cream and a trip to the park after school today-- supposed to be sunny and 74 this afternoon! I spend all summer looking at real estate in Minnesota and all winter looking at home prices in Florida, but in spring and fall, I'm happy as a clam right here. Whatever that actually means. Seems like being a clam would be deadly dull, really.

My mom got me a t-shirt for Christmas that says "Penny Penny Penny" on the front. Neither of us have seen the show, she saw it some catalog and just thought it was funny.

I wanted to name my daughter Penny. Her dad said no. I wanted to name her Lola. Her dad said no. Actually, I had about 20 baby names for her that got vetoed. Grrrr. I don't normally complain about my ex husband, he's actually an okay guy, but I've gotten two calls from debt collectors looking for him this morning and I'm cranky. 
Oh well. Watching his life is a lot like watching a house on fire while you drink a glass of water. Part of me feels like I should run over there and pour my glass of water on the flames. Old Me would have done so. Even if I were really in need of that water (this metaphor is starting to fall apart). But I'm learning that I don't have enough water to make any difference at all on a house fire, and that I (and my kids!) need that water. So he probably should, I dunno....call the fire department or something. Or maybe pay his bills. Whatever.

Back at work after 2 days off to paint at home.
Lots of catching up to do but it will be worse next Monday when the judge returns from his vacation and puts everything from his Chambers back out on my desk. So -- I will enjoy the next 2 days of solitude
