Coastal Carolina University, which is about 12 miles up the road from where I live, made it to the NCAA basketball tournament. Unfortunately, they're a #16 seed which means they play a #1 seed, Wisconsin, in the first round. Since the NCAA expanded to include 64 teams (it's up to 68 now), a #16 seed has never beaten a #1 seed. In a show of local solidarity, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans minor league baseball team is doing a "Cheese Free Week" promotion. The CCU-Wisconsin game is Friday night. Anyone who buys a ticket to a Pelicans regular season game between now and close of business Friday afternoon will get a full refund, and get to keep their tickets, if CCU beats Wisconsin. And unless I missed it in the fine print (the large print giveth and the small print taketh away), there's no limit. You can buy 100 tickets and get a full refund.

Yup, that's what I meant. Sadly, there is a decaf green tea in my future tonight instead.

The college teams, not really. I'm not much of a basketball fan but I might watch the game Friday night. They were a #16 seed last year too and actually had the lead at halftime but wound up losing. I don't expect them to win this year either. CCU has a decent football team but I haven't been to any of their games since I moved here. I go to a couple of Pelicans games every year but I'll have to get used to a whole new roster this year. They used to be a Texas Rangers farm team but now they're affiliated with the Chicago Cubs so everything except the name of the team is changed.
